I always feel my collection is nearing completion, but it never ends...
WTF is that primal on the right!?
If I'm not mistaken it was a KO that looked better and more show accurate than any Hasbro version.
Its funny since I only have about 7 or 8 more figures to go before I am done, well atleast new ones.May go back to old lines like G1,Beast Wars, and so forth after I get these few. I really think Hasbro is giving up on TF's since all they ever do anymore is Bumblebee and Prime. So thats my answer.
I feel like I'm finishing soon. I trimmed a lot of the fat and have figures I really love. But I'm from the mentality that there is always room for improvement. So I might replace some figures as new better versions are released. I'm also looking into getting some custom figures. So I don't know. The 3rd party scene has blown things wide open..
The 3rd party scene has really changed the face of the game hasn't it?
Well I had tons of G1 I kept all these years and continue to add to.
Collecting them all will take tons of time and money so it wont happend anytime soon.
As far as new stuff goes, I do not buy any movie toys(hate them and the movies). Generations/RTS stuff of the G1 homage and stuff like 2010 line and AmaCron are fair game so I'm limited on newer stuff and not buying tons of stuff when a new line comes out.
Yes it has. Lol. Too much good stuff is coming. Hercules, Giant, MP Soundwave and Blaster... It's insane. A big reason for me trimming down my collection is due to 3rd party product.
This is actually a good question. I started my collection after the first movie, and it's predominantly made up of the movie-verse bots. So, once the last few DotM things hit, like Soundwave, Wheeljaque, Mirage/Dino, and Leadfoot, I'll presumably be completely done with my collection. While my wallet is excited to actually have cash in it, I'm not really sure what's going to happen after that.
I don't think I'll start collecting the CHUG stuff, only because there's so damn much of it, it gives me a headache when I think about it...
Who knows...maybe with all the money I'll save from not collecting anymore, I'll be able to spring for some MP stuff down the line.
It's never complete.
completing a line is great, but i only have three complete lines at the moment, animated, classics, and generations, rts, universe etc all have characters from other shows that i don't want, therefore incomplete
>that feel when you will never get everything you want in a line
Closest I was to being complete was Animated, but I missed out on Wreck-Gar and Arcee. (I saw the former at TRU once, but I passed and never saw him in person again, and I don't feel like buying him online)
There's no such thing as "complete" - Didn't you know that? I completed my vintage G1 collection & I thought that would be it for me. I then looked-up all the eHobby variants & I've started spending that money again...
I find that I enjoy collecting lines that don't really end...I was collection WST, then I stopped and sold it because it "sorta" ended, then I wanted animated, but the line pretty much slowed down...and now I'm at classics because it, at the moment, seems to keep going, and I love that. Makes me feel like I'm collecting that old G1 line again, which I never really got to do. I love how it's expanding with hasbro, third party stuff, tf club. It's so expansive and I hope it never ends.
I don't know that I'll ever "complete" my collection. There is always cool new stuff coming out. If it ever ceases being fun, I'll get out.
It will never be complete.
I think I've actually seen Animated Wreck-Gar in TJ Maxx fairly recently. Wasn't he the garbage truck?
Yup. But I live in Canadaland, where TJ Maxx and Ross don't exist locally.
My main focus in collecting is mostly Classics, which I have almost completed. If anything, it's going to be a relief when I finish it since most of the Classics stuff doesn't come cheap these days.
Im trying to complete my classics collection (meaning all neo-G1 stuff, not just the 2007 toy line), and the way i figure is that ill just photograph them and mess with them when i've got them all (when and IF). Maybe recreate scenes from the show, etc. it helps to have another hobby to segue into/out of.
