What happens when a toy sells poorly? Are all Transformers products discounted and/or shipped to discount outlets like Ross? Been able to find voyagers for $13 at these kinds of places and always assumed all underselling products meet the same fate.
Recently I learned about unscrupulous business practices of Funkopop Destroyed
I was curious if Hasbro and Takara do the same thing. Seems like such a slap in the face to collectors and the environment.

They are sent back to the manufacturer and recycled to make new toys. At least that's what I hope happens.

that probably is what happens, considering that the plastic can be melted down and recast in new molds it would help cut back on costs.

Retailers purchase the toys from Hasbro, so Hasbro's already made their money. There's no need for any toys to come back to them. And recycling is surprisingly expensive anyway.

Any stock that a retailer has unsold after a certain amount of time either gets put on clearance or re-sold to another retailer like TJMaxx/Marshalls or Ross. Toys always end up in the hands of a consumer.

I can't say what happens to cases and pallets that are left unsold by Hasbro themselves, but they likely find their way to TJMaxx/Marshalls too. We've seen late waves of lines pass up the Walmarts and Targets and go directly to them before.

What happens is that the store will return all unsold products for credit. The company they originally sold it to will either sell it to those who want the remaining stock or just recycle it. That is all I know.

Are you sure that is not a visual representation on how a forum poster might act when they encounter a reply they choose to not like? I'm just asking for a friend of mine. And not somebody named Fenrir Zero. :confused2

    Clearance stores.
    Occasionally landfill.

ROTF Devy with the £100+ pricetag that didn't sell and suddenly disappeared from shelves? Apparently recalled and land filled so as not to destroy retailer/consumer faith in that price point.
