Was this idea completely aborted because I have not heard of it in ages and we definitely should be around 30 by now. I know it was half assed to begin with but to the best of my knowledge we only got: Three metroplexes Acid Storm Soundwave Rereleased magnus Rereleased Grimlock vs Bruticus Predaking 2 Year of the horse figures That's only 10 and even looking at the TF wiki only accounts for 18 of them. So what happened?
Looks like Hasbro cancelled the line prematurely like they do all of their other TF lines that reference G1 in some way to push resources to those crappy movie figures. -_-"
I hope you are wrong, but feel you are right. You would think that they would push the whole anniversary thing a little harder. If they had a "thrilling 30" plan, they should have had 30 figures in the works.
Wait. I looked at the tfwiki and here is the list of 30 with a bunch of holes in it exclusive figures. Is the thrilling 30 just the exclusive figures or the retail line? 01 – SDCC 2013 Metroplex 02 – SDCC 2013 Prime: Beast Hunters Shockwave’s Lab 03 – Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus 04 – Platinum Edition Grimlock vs. Bruticus 05 – ACGHK 2013 Metroplex 06 – Cybertron Con 2013 Prime: Beast Hunters Shockwave’s Lab 07 – Cybertron Con 2013 Prime: Beast Hunters Beast Hunter Optimus Prime 08 – Masterpiece Acid Storm 09 – Masterpiece Soundwave 10 – Platinum Edition Predaking 11 – Construct-Bots Predaking 12 – Year of the Horse Platinum Edition Optimus Prime 13 – Year of the Horse Platinum Edition Starscream 14 – Age of Extinction First Edition Optimus Prime 24 – Age of Extinction Evolution 2-Pack Grimlock 25 – Age of Extinction Evolution 2-Pack Slug 26 – Age of Extinction Evolution 2-Pack Strafe 30 – Fan Built Bot Windblade Also, there are more than 30 New Generations figures released/pending. Do you count repaints and retools individually or do you count number of unique molds?
The Optimus and Bumblebee evolution 2-packs would presumably add 2 more to the checklist... say 27 and 28, so that leaves 15-23 and 29. I thought it was curious that the MP Grimlock re-release didn't have one of these numbers, but do MP Sunstorm and Prowl have numbers or not? Will the "Knights of Unicron" have a number? If the AOE evolution packs have numbers, then those other AOE Wal-mart and Target exclusives could probably fill up the rest of the 30. They may not be cancelled, we might just finishing up the typical 'slow season' of toys that happens every Spring/early Summer. The figures that count are the ones with a "# of 30" on the package... or somehow otherwise designated by Hasbro as part of the "special" 30.
^^ Isn't all this the "exclusive" __ of 30 line...the "Thrilling 30" is seperate I thought... http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...6492-x-30-a.html?highlight=platinum+30+for+30
Yes. Perhaps there's not a good name for the different groups. There is the "Thrilling 30th" line. Then there's the 30 special numbered whatever. Whatever name is used properly or not, I believe it's clear the OP is referring to the "X of 30".
'Thrilling 30' is the overarching name for Hasbro's 30th anniversary celebrations. It encompasses both the current series of Generations toys and a numbered series of 30 toys that mostly exclusives of some sort. The currently known 'X of 30' toys are: I learned of and added to the wiki the Smash & Change Silver Knight's number just a little while ago. We can probably safely assume that the Optimus and Bumblebee Evolution 2-Packs will also have numbers, plus the Silver Knight Optimus & Grimlock two-pack. The remaining eight spaces will probably be filled by other AOE store exclusives, since Masterpiece Grimlock (and thus presumably Prowl and Sunstorm too) doesn't have a number. The Platinum Edition Optimus Prime & Grimlock set doesn't have a number either, so my guess for the last eight would be the eight Walmart exclusive Legends releases: - Optimus Prime - Grimlock - Bumblebee - Stinger - Optimus Prime & Grimlock - Bumblebee & Strafe - Stinger & Slug - Bumblebee vs. Stinger with Strafe
Which is bizzare given that the numbers are consequently out of whack. The whole Thrilling 30 system is just botched beyond all point of meaning. If you really look at those figures there seems to be no unity, rather they appear to just dump a number on whatever they please (hell three metroplexes and two shockwave labs?). Personally I thought this was all a good idea back when it was announced but it raelly seems to have no thought into it at all - it doesn't celebrate thirty years of transformers, it just seems to be a special sticker on whatever Hasbro feels like putting one on.
Apart from Windblade, the thing that links them is that they're all store exclusives or con exclusives. For 2013, the numbering encompassed basically everything that fit that description (except I guess the Predacons Rising line), but with AOE's influx of store exclusives, they presumably started picking and choosing to keep the total at thirty. Now, why they chose to include, say, Smash & Change Silver Knight Prime at the expense of more Masterpieces like Grimlock, I don't know...
how are they referencing g1 when half of them are beast hunters or aoe? nothing thrilling about this boring 30.
