Paramount is quite notorious for using China to flex their box office to $1 billion. What I don't understand is what happened between them after TLK. What made the greedy paramount drop this foreign scheme instead of carrying it out with Bumblebee?

They realized that it wasn't a feasible idea if the movie is awful?

TLK failed, miserably, and cost Paramount 100 mil. After their promises to China rang hollow on many fronts (each film they made together) and the fact that in AOE Bay pissed all over the promises of promoting China and the park the Dinobot scene was in, they were less than happy and Bay's crew ran afoul of the government with it. Misrepresentation and the like.
