Barricade dies in the prequel novel. I'm very sure he will not be in ROTF.

any ways if you want a more real world answer Saleen went under in late 2007 so I'm guessing with the license transfer to the creditors/bank/who ever meant that in the time frame they had to plan the film before production they just could not wait so they just swapped him out for some one new.

I think he was gonna be in the movie, then Micheal Bay introduced him to the twins.... After arguing with his agent for most of the first day of filming, he quit out of protest! But don't worry, he's got a reality show in the works, and is set to make a guest apperance on Lost when the new season starts, and has been busy writing songs with his new band "the Barricaders". They plan to kick off their North American tour this fall.

 

I can almost guarantee that this is what happened: Barricade was written in to the film, to be killed off in the first scene to wind up the plot hole from the first film; his character was then renamed Sideways and made into a completely new character. For what reason? Most likely is that Hasbro or Bay didn't think he would be recognisable as being Barricade by the general populace unless he was still a cop car, so they decided to just give him a new name and make him a separate character.

This always bugged me because if I remember correctly, you last see him in a daze from the beating he gets from Bumblebee? So does he die from embarrassment? He only looked a bit bruised I thought... I really hope I am wrong here...

 

Nah, the last you see him is on the freeway before Bonecrusher transforms.

His death scene was cut from the film or never filmed, even though he died in the novel and comic. This is well known, and all of the first film's sequel comics featured Barricade, as did ROTF's prequel comics and novel, but it looks like he hasn't made it into ROTF itself. And I've already said what I believe is the reason for that...

Yeah, it kinda looked like he did in the first movie, but i dont think so, and besides, why kill him. Man, he was my first movie toy

 

Actually it leaves it fairly open to his return, but if this is the only scrap the general public (whom the novels will be advertised to) get on his fate, then I will be most disappointed. Everyone loved the "police car".

Well from what we know, he was on the highway with BoneCrusher. My best guess is after Prime took out BC, Barricade kept on going on the highway and got lost.

 

Barricade cashed in all of his vacation time, and he is currently in Aruba, looking for Natalie Holloway. His is a police car, after all.........  

 

He's trying to get his own Sitcom Spin-off. Word is Ironhide is to make a guest appearence in the pilot episode.
