im wondering What Figures you Guys Regret on giving away for one reason, i havent given a figure yet, but do you regret givign away any figure? EDIT: 2,000 POST!! WOOO!!!
I don't really regret giving away any of my childhood TFs, as they were excessively played with and were pretty much junkers. I do however regret getting rid of my well cared for TMNT collection.
I gave away Magamatron to my step son who promptly lost him and all his parts :/ At least he was enjoyed for a few days
I COULD say I regret giving away my movie figures Barracade and Jazz. However, I gave them to my nephews of whom I love a lot so that takes care of any regrets. My nephews are awesome kids and they seem quite happy with the toys given by their uncle.
I'll tell you about one I absolutely DON'T regret giving away - my G1 Omega Supreme. My radio show cohost from college was also a pretty big Transformers fan and he hadn't really done any collecting before. When I was at college - far away from my collection - he used to talk about how awesome it was to have the original Omega Supreme when he was a kid and how much he liked it. Well, when I got married, my wife and I decided to do gifts for the groomsmen. I purchased a TF that matched up with each person's personality - G1 Soundwave for my DJ buddy, G1 Jazz for the Porsche driver, MP Starscream for the Aerospace Engineer...when it came to my old radio show cohost, I found myself looking at the energon Omega Supreme and feeling like "Well, he's cool, but..." I really like my G1 Omega Supreme - he's an awesome figure and I was privileged enough to have found one where the servos worked - but, to me, he was just another tick mark in the G1 collection. I gave him to my cohost gladly. We stay in pretty regular contact and I've watched his collection grow over the past few years since my wedding; I think that G1 Omega Supreme was what he needed to get "the bug" and start collecting G1s again. Now, I dunno if that's a generous gift or if I'm the bearer of a terrible wallet-draining curse, but I know he was super-excited to open up that box and start pulling out tracks, the tank, etc...
Sold some TFs well over a year ago. The ones I regretted selling were 07 Movie Swindle, Cybertron Metroplex, Cybertron Menasor, and Cybertron Wreckloose. Oh well... I can always find those figures online and buy them.
RID Optimus Prime near mint with the box. I look at the prices now ( when i can find one at placesi am comfortable with buying from) andi grimmace as I bought the one i gave away at retail) my beast wars figs as well especially rat trap XD
That's sort of what happened to me, only replace 'neighbor' with 'friend' and replace 'Armada boat minicons' with 'Digivolving Blackwargreymon'. Not exactly a Transformer, but I'm sure beating myself up over that .
A bit different, but all the BW figures my parents gave away. I loved my original and TM Primals... ;_;
Selling my G1 Soundwave for little money was not collecting at the time and that still stings. Though sold it to a friend and i am sure Soundwave has had a great home.
My parents sold my RID and Armada collection when I was 9. I didn't care, since I was into yu-gi-oh, but had to leave because I couldn't bear seeing everything being sold. No I wish I had kept them.
I regret giving away my Grimlock, Siren and Nightbeat. But the thing is, I did not remember that I gave away the first two. I got my toys from my parents cellar back in the last days and I thought they were still there. In fact there are some things there and some don't. I still have Sirens headmaster and some guns of my PM Prime are missing. And I HAD everything complete before I moved out and left my toys there... I was sooo looking forward to my G1 Grimlock, because he was one of the toys I did not want to sell, but keep him here
More like throwing them to wolves...the two tiny toyshop Convoy I gave to my kids. Seeing how much they are at eBay now makes me cringe At a lesser degree, RM Wrecker Hook I gave to my son's friend.
Not a single one, since I've never given any of my toys away (except some toddler toys to Goodwill, yard sales, etc.). I'm also fortunate enough to have parents that respect my collecting and never have or will get rid of any of my stuff without my permission, even though my childhood bedroom in their house is now pretty much just a storage space for a lot of my old toys. I do wish I had taken a bunch of my sister's old Beast Wars stuff rather than allow her to sell them, though.
I had about 40 TFs in perfect shape growing up: Hosehead Skullcruncher Doubledealer Wheeljack Punch/Counterpunch Vroom Airwave Downshift Chromedome Afterburner Goldbug Targetmaster Kup Hosehead Nightbeat Getaway Gunrunner Pretender Grimlock Pretender Bumblebee Pretender Starscream Powermaster O. Prime Micromaster Race Car Patrol Ratchet Warpath Powerglide Bumblebee Rewind Steeljaw Eject Ramhorn A few more... Then, when I was about 13, my parents said they had enough of my toys sitting in the closet and made me sell them for a total of about $40 in a garage sale. I didn't even get to keep the money! Go ahead and check out the cheapest 100% complete prices of all of those on ebay and tell me how much $$ I have spent as an adult...going back and trying to get them again! Eff-ing parents!
