I had the dumb idea of asking: if you house was on fire and you could only grab like a few things, what figures would you probably grab and save them from a fiery death? I’d probably just try to grab my dog first and then just anything that is of my chug or botcon collection. I rather not have stuff I spent 500 on burn to a crisp. My condolences go to the people who actually had to go through losing everything they had to a fire, this just something dumb I wanted to ask and now it exists. This isn’t like “if you could grab one or a few” but not “you can grab everything” somewhere in the middle

No figures are worth saving doing a house fire.

I've created a list of all the figures I own, so in the event of a house fire, our insurance can cover the damages and we can hopefully replace them.

Not to poop on the thread, but in the event of a house fire, I'm not going to try saving anything other then myself (I live alone). In the event that I can grab something, there's a file folder in a drawer in a beauro not that far from the front door with important documents that I'd grab, but only if I can on my way out.

    Toys don't make the list.

This. It also helps to have a collection count too.

My broken G1 red alert, Alternators shockwave, ectotron and a hand carved autobot logo that my dad made
Now, you may be asking, why these specifically?
Red alert was a figure that my brother gave to me when i was 5 and i cherish it cus it was the first tf i owned, shockwave as he was my fav alternator and was a good friend of mine's fav character, he holds an angel in memory of him as he passed away 2 months ago, and ectotron cus Ghostbusters was my fav movie growing up
the autobot logo is obvious why id save it

That doesn't always count. If it did, my list now includes every Lucky Draw figure made.

Insurance companies often require photo evidence or sworn affidavits. I had a friend that lost his Magic collection when his house burned down and I had to file a witness claim for him estimating his collection's value. He would have gotten a total of $500 out of it, but got around $1200 at the time due to his friends and I writing witness letters.

To play along though, I would make an attempt to grab my daughter's MP01 or her favorite stuffies. If it were a slow burner, maybe my G1 Shockwave and my girlfriend's MPM Barricade as well.

In the end, nothing physical would ever be worth losing a loved one over. Let it all burn as long as my daughter and girlfriend are safe.

I wouldn't be worrying about any damn toys at that point. First family, then cat, then car keys, then wallet. Wouldn't bother beyond that.

If our house was on fire and I came out of the house to my wife and kid carrying a toy, my wife would (and should) punch me square in the face.

You should also get them appraised. Insurance will only cover their cost, unless you have documentation of their value.

I keep my most important figures all together in a case right next to a front window the whole thing would fly through quite nicely.

I'd be standing at the door of my bedroom with a fire extinguisher and sheer determination.

I'd be more concerned that everyone in my family, including our doggo, got out of the house safely, and/or calling 911 or trying to put out the fire myself.

As far as inanimate objects, I'd save my laptop first. If I could grab any TFs, they would be Siege Jetfire and CW Superion, but those wouldn't be a priority.

... graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmellows.

I'm not running back in to get family.
