Going back to the "Tuner" Skids or Mudflap thing. All they were was a different paint app.

But now I have PRIME Rumble- and here is a "tuner" mode to him.

To me, "tuner" refers to a radio or something.

So what else is "tuner" referring to?

 

'Tuned' up cars for road racing.

 

A tuner could be a generalization given to someone who modifys cars. Whether they are visual modifications or performance modifications. So the TF "tuner" versions are modified variants of the original mold

 

In the case of the specific toys you mentioned It's purely a tuner asthetic driving the prefix.

 

So it's basically a fancy term for "re-paint".

 

Yeah in real world terms of the those toys... but in-universe, it pertains to the specific type of deco Skids and Mudflap had adapted.

 

A name prefix for some shelfwarming redecos of the Twins.

Tuners: souped up cars with fancy paint jobs, like the cars in Fast & The Furious. I think Hasbro is trying to emulate those paint job styles.

"Tuner" means that you can use it to Synchro Summon. When the total Level of the "Tuner" figure and the other figure(s) you have matches a "Synchro" figure's Level, by sending them to the Graveyard, you can Summon the Synchro figure. For instance, if you have Tuner Mudflap (Level 2) and Infiltration Soundwave (Level 8), you would be able to "tune" them and Synchro Summon Buster Optimus Prime (Level 10).
