What ending to a game gave you the best satisfaction or goosebumps? The type of ending that made all the effort worth it? Some of mine include MGS3 Snake Eater because the revelation about the Boss was so unexpected and sad and a real tearjerker for me. Also Final Fantasy VII because I just thought it was beautifully done. Also Double Dragon 2 for the NES when Marian comes back to life. I'll think of more later.

 

Let me think of a few...

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue had a good one, considering you got added play plus what actually happened in it.

Earthbound, always in lists of good things

Chrono Trigger of course had a ton of them, a few of which were pretty good

Final Fantasy 6 and 9 had some good endings

Shadow Hearts Covenant...Dragon Quest 8 second ending...Rogue Galaxy...all pretty good

Man, I have a bad time remembering exactly what happened in a lot of games I've beaten...

 

Kingdom Hearts II was good, so was FF VII, I also liked Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Lunar 1&2
Shadow Hearts: Covenant (shook me up pretty bad)

Wing Commander 4: It ended not with a space fight, but with a very talk heavy court scene where your choices affect the outcome. Not exciting sounding, but it was filmed good and justice was served.

Deus Ex: You became god!!!

Freespace 2: The most intense supernova ever!

Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion: The dragon fight at the end was hell-ah awsome, and you felt like Bruce Willis from 5th Element. The kinda hero who actually isnt the one to save the day, but you're the one that made it possible sorta thing.

Transformers "Armada": Megatron just died in the most badass way.

 

Star Wars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. I was most satisfied with the dark side ending as Kyle became the new Emperor.

 

Wow, someone else who actually played Freespace 2!   Totally seconded!

*Prays hard for a miracle that is Freespace 3*

 

I'll say it time and time again I've NEVER been moved by a video game ending quite like the one in Super Metroid.

Samus Aran battles valiantly to get to Mother Brain and BEST her. After an EPIC fight Samus is ABOUT to fall when the baby Metroid now fully grown SWOOPS in and saves her life. Only to be destroyed by Mother Brain in the process, in return Samus gains an evern GREATER power....but it doesn't even end there.

It's to this day my FAVORITE video game ending of all time.

 

Ico was awesome.

And Klonoa nearly had me in tears.

I kinda liked the ending to Lost Planet too.

 

Final Fantasy X

Good ending and the graphics were simply amazing, for back then anyway.

 

For me Xenogears had a great ending. I also concur about Freespace 2 heck FS1 was really good too.

 

Pretty much any MGS game. Especially Snake Eater.

Or Shadow of the Colossus.

 

Hmm...Let's see...

Twilight Princess had a good ending, but it was sorta depressing in a way. Still good though.

Final Fantasy VII was great. Not much else to say.

All three endings for BioShock were excellent. I like the evil ending the most, though.

The Godfather: The Game's ending was great, yet predictable. But it was still great.

 

Okami : The ending may be cheesy to some, but I had tears flow down freely. This is the first game I cried on.

Psychonaut : w00t joining a psychic organization to save the world.

 

Just the cinematic for TFTMTG on the AB side, that's how the movie should've ended

 

Like it or hate it, FF8 had my favorite ending and unarguabley one of the most extravagant. Sorry, but it destroys 7s in visuals, length, story, completion, and by FAR music in every way... in my opinion.

Other great endings were FF6, Chrono Trigger, FF4, FF7, FF9, FF10, FF12, all the Suikodens except 4, Vandal Hearts, and Mass Effect. Mass Effects ending wasn't the best on it's own, but just all the build up of the last couple hours made it all a great game experince.

 

There is only one, it's name is Portal.

 

Oh, dude. Add that one to my list too.

That song frickin' cracked me up. It was even funnier when it got stuck in my wife's head.  

Shadow of the Colosus was kinda cool, wierd, but cool. It made want to play ICO again. I should try to find it.

 

I liked FF 9's ending very much....
