Similar to the Energon thread, I'm now going back and watching Armada, bringing out my old toys, etc.

Maybe it's because I just got off of watching Energon (ack) but Armada's cartoon is actually quite nice. I haven't watched any Micron Legend, but I'd rather not here those shrill and terrible voices they like to give anyone who's not over 50. Red Alert is my favourite character. I watched it rather disjointedly, starting with Crisis, then Mortal Combat, (epic fight, if conjested with near-pointless and overly-lengthy dialogue) and now I'm back at the beginning watching large chunks of eps rather than the whole things in cronological order. Once again the Wikia helps me keep track of things.

The toys were really nice too. Yeah, I know, "poor articulation!", "gimmicks is 4 babeez!", but sometimes it doesn't matter. No, quiet, it really doesn't. A toy can be fun without every point of articulation, believe it or not, and the gimmicks actually help most figures. One of my favourites is Megatron, who's gimmicky goodness is just fun. He's basically a base on treads for minicons, and it's awesome. Sure, there are some actual neon colours spread around the line, but neon doesn't bug me. Red Alert is once again a favourite, mostly because of his size and vehicle mode. I also really like his design, with clearly defined legs and arms, plus his little surgical arm. AlsoWOOWOOWOOWOO!!

I have Jetfire, and while he's a lot of fun on his own, I really wish I had gotten Prime now. (I prefer Micron Legend's Convoy, personally) And Tidal Wave, as he's just awesome. (he's on my bukkit list)

So... yeah, what did YOU like about Armada?

I didn't care for the cartoon all that much. It has its moments for sure though. I enjoyed the comic a lot though. Some cool molds or characters such as Demolishor, Jetfire, Overload, Blurr, and of course, Tidal Wave (I have a Micron Legend Purplewave on back order on BBTS right now) great things happened during armada such as our first Unicron toy and those loveable little Minicons.

And of course, the 4 horsemen :winks :thumb

EDIT: on a personal note, Armada was when I first found this website, Orson had his own forum, and I met my good friend Lumpy.

I really liked most of the character designs in Armada, they just weren't translated into good toys.

It was the first TF series that I grew up with, I got my first toy from it (Hot Shot), I like the mini-cons (okay, I'll admit it, because you were supposed to collect them all like pokemon. But hey, I was sorta into pokemon then as well, and I just liked the small size of the figures), Unicron got a figure.

    Three things essentially:

    1. Unicron toy
    2. Tidal Wave toy
    3. It ended

I actually liked Armada quite a bit. I like it much better than Energon, and I like it better than what I have seen of Cybertron so far.

    Some of the highpoints:
    - A different, but awesome, version of Starscream.
    - Though very short-lived, its nice to see how the Autobots were affected by Prime's death.
    - OP and Megs were awesome in the last episode.
    - The kids, while not the best supporting characters, are still better than Kicker, the cybertron kids, and young Sari.
    - For whatever reason, I liked Sideways. I liked how Unicron had an eye on them all along.

Ive always loved the Starscream design, and after intially hating it I've started warming up to his character too.

Sideways was awesome, as was Unicron.

I didn't like the Cartoon, in fact I've not enjoyed any TF cartoon since G1...

Anyway Armada had some good stuff, Minicons themselves are awesome, they're like micromasters reborn. I liked the interaction between the little guys and the big figures, although I admit a lot of the minicon gimmicks were very forced. IMO the best minicons were the triple changers, the ones that could become weapons as well.

Some of the gimmicks were fantastic, I especially like Primes self changing trailer, who wasn't impressed the first time they saw it transform by itself? Well, I was anyway. It was kinda poop that RID Prime had more Minicon posts than Armada Prime though. I remember reading something about Prime not wanting to enslave Minicons, whereas Megatron was enslave away.

I don't have Armada Tidal Wave, but I picked up the show accurate Micron Legend Shockwave. Unicron was also one of the standouts from the line.

But Armada was the first time we got a decent Video game... TF Armada! How has no one mentioned that yet?

HA! I was just playing that this morning. I forgot how to kill Cyclonus and Screamer. I was better at it 6 years ago apparently...
