Don't really have any opinions as to which to drop since most of these I don't read myself. So instead I'll say which are ending soon (incase of minis) and which are having creative team changes, since that could influence which you keep or drop Archaia Studios Press: The Killer - 3 issues left, goes up to #10 Blatant Comics: Last Blood - 2 issues left? volume 1 ends at #5. Don't know if volume 2 starts at #6 or renumbered. Also wowio.com has all 5 issues, they just have different covers to them. Ex: Wowio issue #4 is Diamond issue #3 - same cover for both, they just have different issue numbers on them - weird Dark Horse: Living with the Dead - Ended back in December at #3 Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite - 2 issues left, goes up to #6 DC Comic: All-Star Batman and Robin - Thought I read that the All-Star line was ending, if that's the case, All Star Batman has 1 issue left due in February The Flash - Waids last issue is #236 due out in January, Keith Champagne in February and finally Tom Peyer takes over in March Salvation Run - 5 issues left, goes up to #7 Suicide Squad: Raise the Flag - 4 issues left, goes up to #8 Marvel Comics: Astonishing X-Men - 1 issue left plus giant-size issue in february, then creative team change (Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi) and title renamed to "Astonishing X-Men: Second Stage" starting early 2008 - probably after March since the solicit isnt on Marvels website Cable/Deadpool - 2 issues left, series ends at #50 Captain Marvel - 3 issues left, goes up to #5 Criminal - Ended back in November at #10, Criminal 2 starts in February Fantastic Four - new creative team (Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch) starting with #554 due in February Ghost Rider - new creative team (Jason Aaron and Roland Boschi) starting with #20 due in February Howard the Duck - 1 issue left due out Jan 4 Incredible Hulk - Renamed Incredible Hercules as of Decembers #112 and will continue for at least awhile, solicits only go up to March with #115 and it's still Hercules. Hulk get's a new series, Hulk #1, out January 9th by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness featuring a red Hulk. Marve Zombies 2 - 2 issues left, goes up to #5 Penance: Relentless - 2 issues left, goes up to #5 Ultimates 3 - 4 issues left, goes up to #5 Ultimate X-Men - Kirkman is leaving after issue #93 due out in April Moonstone Books: Zombie Proof - 1 issue left, ends at #3 oh and incase you were wondering, Wasteland is by Oni Press
DC Drop All-Star Batman & Robin. It's not worth the paper it's printed on. Green Arrow and Black Canary is also a safe drop. It's not like Winick is going to get any better. Salvation Run and Suicide Squad are both minis, so it's up to you if you want to stick them out. I dropped Suicide Squad after #3, personally, but I'm sticking with Salvation Run for now. I'd put JLA on probation if I wasn't a completist. Ever since McDuffie took over it's been nothing but tie-ins to other events. It's hard to get a real sense of the book until McDuffie is allowed to let it stand on its own. Marvel Astonishing X-Men. This title has gone down the tubes horribly since the opening arc. There's only one issue and a one-shot left, but they're probably going to suck. After that the book goes on hiatus - again - until fall. Probably not worth picking up again after that. Cable & Deadpool ends in two issues, but the last few months haven't been as good as it used to be. You can probably skip them if you want to save a few bucks. Ultimates 3 is a no-brainer. It's the All-Star Batman & Robin of Marvel.
I would drop these: batman - Morrision has been terrible IMO flash-The kids ruined the book countdown - nuff said nightwing- has gotten boring AMS -just quit this one cuz of OMD-nuff said new avengers- hasn't been interesting to me in so long thor-I just dropped it, it seems to be going no where punisher war journal-hate the current artist A lot of your books I've never been interested enough to pick up one issue so i can't really comment. Definitely keep: all star bats and robin Detective comics Action comics green lantern Green lantern corp booster gold justice league of america justice society of america captain america astonishing xmen
you are pure sex when it comes to comic knowledge... some of those i new were ending soonish, etc, but some i did not...that helps...i'll definately finish most of the 3 ish miniseries stuff, since ive already got 1 and 2....and knowing when cabledeadpool ends helps too...i really love that book...still need to fill in the middle issues i missed last time i had to cutout books...i just love deadpool too much to quit before the end... so, ive decided ultimates 3, punisher war journal and captain marvel are goners.... salvation run and suicide squad are on the chopping block...i think ive got the first issues of each lying around, i should read them and see if i care about either of them... thanks so far everyone...so far out of the 65 titles that i could remember, ive got a list of 12 that i am definately not quiting... in no particular order: 1. invincible and anything related to invincible 2. walking dead 3. brit 4. batman 5. Detective comics 6. green lantern 7. Green lantern corp 8. booster gold 9. mighty avengers 10. new avengers 11. anything TF 12. the boys 13. daredevil 14. iron fist 15. marvel zombies (though this ends soon too) i want to get to 30 books...so im almost halfway there...
DEFINITELY DROPPING: Captain marvel Punisher war journal Ultimates 3 AMS -just quit this one cuz of OMD countdown - just quit this one too... drafted yeah, well, see, i used to work at a comic store...and when you work at a comic store, and get paid 100% in comics, you start picking up everything you had a possible interest in...i usually got paid between 50 to 100 bucks in comics a week, depending on when i was needed...thats how i got this high in the first place.....and now that im not there, i need to cut back...i can afford all of it, but i wanna start saving for a house, and i just dont NEED to read this much...some of these books ive been buying for months and havent read almost a half a dozen issues...
Well you have a lot of stuff there that I don't read so I would sugest dropping all that I do say to drop FF. That book has been terrible since Waid left. T-Bolts isn't all that interesting and hasn't been since the relaunch. But mostly it's a matter of what you don't enjoy reading. I usually read my comics each week from what I really like to what I just sort of enjoy. WHen it comes to reading those last books, I have to decide if I really am interested enough to continue.
i read the same way, wreckgar, except i never make a decision to really quit reading a title....captain america is another title i may quit...i only started it cuz he had died, and brubaker was writing it....but i dont know if thats enough to keep me around now....though i do loves me some brubaker... all 3 avengers titles i read are up for a possible chop too....i enjoy mighty avengers so far, but the delays hurt it. new avengers has also been pretty enjoyable....and avengers initiative almost got dropped til i learned robert kirkmans ant man was gonna show up in it....(stupid marvel canceling antman...i hate you) but i'm not sure how good it'll be since kirkman isnt writing him... also ghost rider...i got into it cuz the movie was coming out and i wanted to read a ghost rider book, but its gotten repetative and stale lately...though the last issues i read were the WWH tie ins, which were just really dumb IMHO....but i do want to see the confrontation with him and the devil eventually, just not sure if i really need to read it now...
I am dropping Avengers Initiative. I stuck around just to see the Scarlet Spiders but think that's it. But like you, I see Ant Man and picked it up. haven't read it yet though. Ghost Rider is one I really want to be good, which is why I keep buying it. it started out great but like you said, kind of got boring. From the look of it though, the new creative team may breathe some life into the book. And yes, it is hard to stop. I drop a title and then suddenly wonder what's going on. However, after a few months, the feeling disappears.
is it? i havent read the last 3 or 4 issues....i really need to organize my comics and sit down and read a bunch of them.... and wreckgar, i know that feeling all to well...at least in this day and age i can get online and find reviews or opinions on a title if i really want to...that does help a little... and when does GR get a new creative team?
Updated my previous post, added a bit more info (who's taking over which stories), more on All Star Batman and Astonishing X-Men
well, if all star batman and robin ends thats not really gonna bother me too much...i was only getting it cuz its batman, and im a batwhore....
That rumor had a yellow/amber light so it's too early to tell. Additionally Jim Lee indicated that they haven't exactly set when the conclusion will be (initially they were going to 8, then it increased to 12-14).
