Why wouldn't he say that, if that's what he meant? The first, main G2 release of Optimus was the same one that appeared in the comic: the regular one, just with G2 faction symbols and a new trailer. Any time anyone talks about Laser Prime, they say Laser Prime. The same way people say Hero Megatron when that's the G2 Megatron they mean, rather than assuming people will know they're talking about that and not the main G2 Megatron. Sure, I could be wrong, but maybe you're the one making an assumption.

For me, MP is about fiction-accuracy, not toy accuracy, so yeah, I'd need the new trailer, but not the accessories, voice clips (come on, really?), or leg tattoo.

 

I thought it was about both. If they're not going whole hop on all the extra stuff the G2 one had, what would be the point?

Honestly? Hmm. I was thinking G2 Tank Megatron but then that's another Megatron... a bit like asking for another Optimus or something. Nah.

Going totally leftfield I would actually kill (well not literally) for a Masterpiece Combiner Wars Viper. Forget turning into a 'gun' (LAWL) but a proper A-10 Tankbuster, all Cobra Rattlered up with lots of features like flaps, landing gear, spinning turbines, opening cockpit, turrets, Cobra livery and a little Wild Weasel pilot figure (and maybe a little Baroness figure to sit in the turret?).

Hell if we're talking wish fulfillment then make his mahoosive so he's the same size as the 80's GI Joe Rattler, and can work with 3 3/4'' inch figures. SUPER Human Alliance Masterpiece Viper.

Jesus. I really want one now.

As for what the point is, why don't you ask every MP version of G1 Optimus Prime that didn't even come with a trailer, much less Roller or whatever else.

Movie Starscream getting the proper Masterpiece treatment. I love the MPM series one, but that's really at the end of the day just a shiny paintjob.

Even if the design started from the existing leader mold, which would then get built out with premium features and have the lights and sounds scrapped. Without the lights and sounds box in the guts of the figure, and with a bit of effort, I think you could get a genuinely fairly slimline F-22 vehicle mode.

Going the next stage with this:

MP Thundertron would have a winged lionmode with a much better backside and better articulation.
The wings would double as swords.
His botmode would have a more pronounced beard (not quite like Santa but more obvious than the Prime toy).
His both botmode feet are detachable and a peg leg can be attached to either ankle so you have options.
Both hands are detachable and on each wrist you can connect a connector to wich can be attached:
-A cutlass like the one Prime toy has, minus the mechtech gimmick that can also be held in either hand
- A hook
He will also come with:
-A parrot drone that can transform into a Cybertronian version of a flintlock pistol
- A knuckle duster shaped like a lions claw
- A Cybertronian version of a swivel cannon that can attach to either shoulder in botmode and the back in lionmode
- A pair of articulated hands
- A pair of closed fists for properly holding the weapons

My God, it would be wonderfull !

Yes please. 100%. I keep saying it, when Takara finally lifts the curtains on this the fandom will lose their mind. I see this as being inevitable.

2007 movie Bumblebee. Also, I could go with a RiD Scourge. Last but not least, I would definitely shell out some dough for movie Starscream.

 

I still want the Armada Optimus Prime we almost got instead of Star Saber.

 

I love regular Armada Optimus, but thought the super mode was the ugliest version of Optimus we'd had up to that point. The head was silly looking and the gold all over made it garish, imo.



The Powerlix upgrade was a little better looking. And alternately, combining with Jetfire and Overload looked so ridiculous that it swung it all the way back around to being kind of cool. But the regular Armada super mode... eh, do not want.
