Maybe its because I felt strongly let down by the Alliance and Defiance comics but my interest in the movie universe continuity setting as a whole has been waning lately.

what attracts me to the movieverse is my curiousity as to how Transformers will look like in real life.

I already saw what they would look like as a cartoon

Because I was mostly curious to know what Optimus would look like in real life, and how he would interact with everything around him. Turns out he's got quite a lot of fans now. Now everyone's calling him a sexy beast... I guess the flame work on his chassis makes him look better than ever.

Bay chose very well for a fierce looking truck. The Peterbilt gives him a more aggressive look than the Rig did. No offence to all you G1 fans, but I think Movieverse Prime is much better than the original, even though Optimus did originate from the Rig. I love trucks, and having an Autobot as one made my day. And having Peter Cullen as his voice makes him better than ever, and I'm sure the OP fans would agree with me.

its crazy how a robot can have so much sex appeal haha
my girlfriend knew nothing of transformers except a very small knowledge that most kids would have, so this was her first real exposure and she came out with such a crush on optimus prime.
i wanted to see transformers in a real world which i think is the main movies appeal, and it works :D

Robot designs, the characters, the Allspark and The Fallen mythos, the rather realistic take on human interaction...

You see, I really just like the take on the series all around, I'm not following it just because of one aspect, I really liked Bay and Orci's vision on the '"TRANSFORMING+ ROBOTS FROM CYBERTRON LOOKING FOR ENERGY" concept.

How they actually made a live movie, based on a cartoon/toyline, that wasn't aweful. And the effects are...mind-blowing. I haven't read the prequel comics at all, but the plot of the movie isn't really anything to write home about either. I think the second movie will have a bit more of a unique and engaging plot, but the first one was relatively straight-forward.

Its like a new start for me, in a darker more realistic world. That and it reminds me of the old amblin movies of which I'm also a huge fan of, like Back to the future, ET and Jurassic Park!

I like the movie verse better than almost any other TF universe because the Transformers look real, and the story behind them is fantastic, especially since they have 2.5 hours instead of tons of episodes to explain the whole story.

The designs are also very cool (for the most part, there is a small handful of character designs I loath, ie: Wheelie, Jetfire, Frenzy, and Scalpel). But the rest of the designs are nice. They also give a new twist and spin on the characters as well, instead of being exactly like their G1 counterparts.

    THIS.
Plus the fact that someday, we can actually HAVE the technology and know-how to make fully functioning (but not yet sentient) transforming appliances... or day-to-day tools. Hey, if i read correctly, scientists and think-thanks have ALREADY begun talking about the possibility of Star Trek like "Warp Speed" ..then who knows?! :D  :lol

I like how they took a crappy 80's cartoon that was nothing more than a huge toy advert and brought it into the 21st century.

Sure the story wasn't very complex and some of the humor was lame but let's face it G1 was hardly the greatest example of storytelling either so I don't see why all the hardcore fans get so angry about the new movies being basically the same only with much flashier visuals but I think those types of fan are the sort who aren't happy unless they're whining.

Mostly this. I'll add that in the cartoons, things happen with zero consequences. You get hurt, no problem, pop in this magic key and everything is fine. Things are fixed within the same episode or by the next episode. When 'bots died or took extreme damage in the 1986 movie, it was shocking and upped the "at stake" level dramatically (at least for this 11-year old).

Not to mention, the new movies finally get us back to the idea of robots in disguise. Just like when we were kids, the excitement was in the fact that any car on the road could have stood up and turned into a robot. To say nothing of the incredible effects, etc...

Only the 1986 movie, Seasons 2&3 of Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and the new movies have felt, to me, like "believeable" science fiction, which is what I've always wanted the TF franchise to become.

Well im pretty sure if it wasn't for G1 you wouldn't be posting that ^_^

And if it wasn't for G1 we wouldn't have Optimus, Megatron and all the other great characters we have today, and i fking LOVE G1.

It was all meant for kids anyway...You know that right?

Also what attracts me to the movie universe is probably bringing back some awesome memories of me playing with my toys and just seeing how well toys/movies have evolved.

    1. Some / a lot of the movie TF designs. Yes I know, sometimes a stark departure from the usual TF aesthetics, but that is exactly what brings me back to the fandom after 2 decades.

    2. The toys, which erupt from those designs. Realistic altmodes with intricate molds & good articulation.

    3. The 'real life' CGi : making it all look real, especially clean car paint surfaces, is more difficult than rough dirtied metal. Hats off to ILM !

-Over the top action that's only possible in big blockbuster movies.
-The ability to see realistic Transformers walk in and interact with a real world, rather than a cartoon.
    -Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime.

I'd say no matter how you feel about Bayformers, it's a good extension of the franchise that goes into parts other media cannot. So yay.
