Hey, if the Transformers main line can have bad movies, why not third party Transformers movies? So tell me what movie that are not licensed Transforming robot movies did you love, hate, or just find amusing? ROBOT JOX I'll start it out with a low budget 90's classic Robot Jox. In this film the nations of the future have done away with war by instead agreeing to having one-on-one combat between giant transforming robot vehicles when they have border disputes! Here is a scene from a fight between two of the robots, where one transforms into a tracked vehicle, and shootes the other in the robo-crotch. If you watch the whole movie you migiht notice a Transformers voice actor cameo. There are two guys who keep betting on the fight outcomes throughout the movie, and one of them is Jeffrey Combs, the voice of TFPrime Ratchet!
The movie Pacific Rim coming out next year looks pretty awesome. Giant robots vs bigass Monsters seem pretty much can't miss. Don't know if the robots transform though...
Here is another not-quite Transformers series I watched as a kid. Original made in Japan in the 60, this series came to the US as Space Giants. It featured a family of alien robots who could change into rocket ships. They were friends with a human boy, and regularly saved earth from alien threats (sound familiar?). I used to watch this series on Channel 20 out of Detroit in the late 70s, long before Transformers. The Space Giants -Chapter 4-1- The Bomb - YouTube Funny Transformers connection, a remake OVA of the Space Giants series featured the voice of Steve Blum (TFPrime Starscream) as several of the characters!
That Korean one [I think] with G1 Inferno as King Phoenix. Defenders of space LOL and this is the exact same dub I grew up with [Greek] Hliarity
Watched Robot Overlords recently. Noticed that all the robots folded into boxes for storage... so technically the transformed, if into boxes. Neat story, sorta mixed The Matrix with Transformers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiOOxDzv05Y
