Vivir Abajo. Novel by a Peruvian author about the effects of torture brought by post-WWII Nazis to Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Perú through the life of a serial killer. Very graphic at times, but compelling. I read it during lunch at work whenever I can, so I’m moving slow. But, frankly, sometimes I can only take small dosis at a time. Sometimes, I wished I had a longer lunch time. I’m about 3/4 in.

After rewatching L.A. Confidential, I figured I'd check out some of the James Ellroy books it was based on. I've started with "Clandestine", because it was free on Audible, and it introduces the James Cromwell character.

I'm still early in it and liking it okay, but so far it hasn't demonstrated any of the crackle of my favorite crime novels, by Elmore Leonard and George Higgins.

Read The Haunting of Hill House-The movie was boring as hell, the book was more engaging, though I won't revisit it again.

That's awesome you are reading it in his memory. I am sorry for your loss.

Also, I am reading one of C.S. Lewis' nonfiction books.
