I'm looking at picking up a few - what are the most impressive combiners - and - this is important - from what companies would you suggest?

    Is Scale/Size a factor?
Is aesthetic or price a factor?
How important are the individual bot modes?

Without the above, there are a lot to name.

GREAT questions! Size is absolutely a factor - I don't want wimpy combiners next to constructor. Aesthetic is THE factor for me...individual bot modes... I don't care much about.

So if you want to compare with Constructor, your best bet is to go with Zeta, FansToys, XTB, and DX9 for scale purposes.

Only Zeta has completed other combiners (Bruticus and Superion).

FansToys is working on both Menasor and Superion.

XTB and DX9 are both working on Menasor.

Zeta has teased both Raiden and Predaking.

Cang Toys is working on a Predaking.

Takara has also hinted at MP Raiden.

Everything else is smaller than Constructor tho the MMC bruticus and UT Bruticus are only a bit smaller. There are a few Upsized KOs that also will be around 18inches of various combiners.

Not sure if it meets your criteria size-wise but as a standalone piece my absolute favorite combiner in every way is Generation Toy Gravity Builder, aka not-Devastator. From combined mode to individual bots to transformation, quality of materials, aesthetics, engineering, it fires on all cylinders for me and remains one of my most valued toys.

Having Constructor, I love both Zeta Bruticus and Superion on display and they have a lot of box set options you can still track down easily and for reasonable prices!!

Visually, I do prefer FT for Menasor and Superion, but at the price difference, Zeta Superion is perfectly fine for me if you only care about combined mode... I currently am in on both XTB and FT Menasor, one will live combined but I’m still debating which :)

    Here they are separately:

And a shot of the room so you can see their heights are basically the same:

I'd personally say in that case, get DX9's Menasor, as well as Zeta's Superion and Bruticus instead of FT's Menasor and Superion and MMC's Bruticus. the latter three have amazing robot modes, and basically are begging for you to flip in between them. I personally go for a jack of all trades type thing, something that looks great in all modes in order for me to encourage myself to play with them, haha. So that's why personally, the latter 3 are what i'm going for personally.

if youre gonna always keep them in combined mode and never wanna display them seperately i'd 100% go zeta, they've got a proven track records right now which nobody else can say
I'm in on the fanstoys menasor and prior to smokey these were easy to get but something has changed it would seem.

And now it's frankly a hassle now, basically you pretty much are gonna have to sit at your cpu waiting for your retailer to get a handful of them and hope you get your pre order in before it sells out. so potentially if you started then set there's a a likely chance you might be 4 deep in and not get deadend for how long?
until fanstoys decide reissue, which there is no gurantee of, and even if there is a reissue look at the 3rd koot reissue they did many people didn't even know it was out, if you were lucky you got it for retail which was 99 sterling, but all the stores are charging huge mark ups, sorry but they are showz had this up for 220 70 quid more than tfexpress sold, so imo it's not worth the hassle and icreasing expense

so you might wanna look at the comp like xtransbot or dx9 who do better individual bots than zeta

    Here's my list of Combiners

Devestator - Maketoys (about the same size as non titan CW/POTP Combiners)
    Superion - Unite Warriors
    Menasor - Combiner Wars
    Bruticus - Unite Warriors
    Defensor - Combiner Wars
Predaking - UT Warlord (the combined mode is really cool and closer in size to the other non titan CW/POTP Combiners, but the individual bots are a little weak)
    Computron - Unite Warriors
    Abominus - POTP
    Victorion - Combiner Wars
    Orthia - POTP/Generations Select

Planning to get Unite Warriors Baldigus and Megatronia in the next 6 months. and King Posideon at some point in the next 3 months

I had Quantron, but I didn't love it and sold it to get Unite Warriors Computron

From another perspective, Iron Factory's DJD combiner team is very good looking. Specially the way it combines. Their Bruticus is good as well.

It's not what you are looking for per se, but impressive nonetheless :D

Go for Zeta Superion and Bruticus, they are cheap, solid, look very good and scale perfectly with Constructor. Actually Zeta is the team who designed Constructor so you should know what to expect from their combiners.

I can’t recommend Zeta Superion enough. Fantastic in all modes, solid, extremely user-friendly and fun.

yeah, it seems all the scalpers from all over the world decided to jump on FT wagon --- it might be FT's fault as well since it decides to limit production number to match pre-order number, a fake demand-supply mode, that's what I read from Baidu.
Look at the FT Koot, it was criticized a lot when just released, because of the transformation design, and it was available for a long time around $100. Now after this new mode, even 3rd reissue was OOS in seconds.

ToyWorld and Zeta are pretty solid, no major issues from them on my end to date. I started FansToys but they're not done with them so I can't confirm how solid their combined modes are. Disregard the photo-bombing Omegas :p
