Inspired by the worst alt-modes thread, why not discuss which disguises you think worked best throughout Transformers fiction?
The Autobot Pretenders in Masterforce: Giant robots disguised as humans. They were hidden among us for thousands of years.
Best disguise? Alice in ROTF. Best as in coolest? For me, probably G1 Scrapper. I would love to drive a giant neon green loader through town.

My personal favourite is movie Megatron's Cybertron jet. Not a good disguise but he just woke up and with his ego in the first movie, I can't see him going for an earth vehicle.
The original alt-modes on Cybertron from the original cartoon, such as Soundwave's lamp post alt-mode.
Sky-Byte/Gelsharks flying shark mode is almost certainly one of the most dynamic in the franchise. It can traverse: By sea, of course. He can swim expertly. He can burrow through solid land. He can fly! That's land, water, and air dominance! He was frozen by Fire Convoy's Blizzard Storm and still displayed some mobility in outer space. Space flight capable! In combat: Extreme agility and the all-terrain dominance lend themselves to battle advantages. Mouth missiles! Of course, razor sharp shark teeth! Plus his tail if he needs to slap someone around. As much as I love the guy it's pretty clear that if someone else, someone more ruthless, was in possession of such a truly powerful alt-mode would have laid some serious waste to Earth and the Autobots.
I *WANT* G1 Groundshaker's AFV full-scale. I'll even agree to have the BFG gimped down to 37mm flares and the rockets downgraded to dummies to keep it legal...
Blitzwing is just epic and pratical. Tank and Jet combo, come on. But we all know who is the greatest of all. SCREEEONK!
For practical reasons, many of the triplechangers. Particularly, Blitzwing and Springer. For shock value, G1 Megatron....and Shockwave. For style, Hot Rod, Cyclonus, Arcee.
This might be a controversial opinion... but I think transforming into realistic animals are the best alternate modes the Transformers have ever had. This Is a much better alt mode than this. I also think beast formers are better than vehicles because they can be more versatile than a vehicle can. Like there's a scene with Cheetor hanging off a cliff in beast mode and he's able to hold onto the ledge with his front claws. If he was a car like Bumblebee, Tracks, or Hot Rod he never would of been able to do that.
I love the alt modes of the following: Blitzwing Megs Shockwave Soundwave Leozack Seekers Astrotrain Hound Warpath BB Dropkick I can keep going. I like jets, tanks, choppers, and muscle cars.
Energon Landmine. That giant orange slab of rugged Mad Max tow truck awesomeness gets me every time. Also, RTS Lugnut, G1 Unicron, and most Dinobots are great in my book.
