Another japan video rental store. The video is 90% anime and manga areas of the store. It's so crazy how japan is still in the 90s with video stores. Not shocked pokemon, case closed, doraemon and dragonball have full shelfs to themselves!

 

Given how much more expensive physical media is compared to their NA counterparts, I wouldn't blame them for hanging on to physical rentals.

I started Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Strikers, Wow, it is so different from the 1st 2 seasons. It is still strange to see them as adults. Every season for me makes it seem more like Symphogear.

StrikerS is also where a lot of the series' Super Robot influences leak through a lot more clearly. Subaru in particular is an obvious shout-out to GaoGaigar, with how her transformation concludes with the hexagonal crystal of Mach Caliber sliding into place the same way GGG's G-Stone does, and her rendition of Divine Buster is staged to resemble GGG's "Broken Phantom" rocket punch attack.

 

One character I forgot her name totally stole Gear Fighter Dendoh's attacks.

 

I'm not familiar with Dendoh. But if it's not also Subaru, then maybe it was her sister, Ginga. Or maybe one of the Numbers?

You were 100% right. Subaru reminds me a bit of Tachibana Hibiki with her attacks.

 

When I told my friends I haven't watched any Ghibli yet (I kind of miss out on anime movies in general) they threw recommendations at me, and I decided to watch Princess Mononoke because it looked cool.
Well that was definitely something, love the animation and it did made me think.

 

I continued Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Strikers last night. I got to the new equipping last night. It was good. I really liked Teanas'.

 

So I showed my wife that Chainsaw Man trailer and she immediately ordered the first two manga volumes from Rightstuf.

I started reading the manga to Demon Slayer. It's decent so far. Nothing mind blowing, but enjoyable. Tanjiro just met the villain who looks like Michael Jackson from the Smooth Criminal video.

 

If they don't screw them up there should be some pretty good anime this summer.

 

Yeah, in my town, we lost our best bookstore a couple years back, but the video rental chain is still hanging on. They still rent CDs, even.

 

My favorite SRW is J or W....for obvious reasons. Probably J because it was completely fan translated and playable

.....Though W does also have GoLion(Voltron)

A lot of my favorite Mech shows have characters in those two games.
