I finished the High School Fleet movie. It was really good. It was weird seeing 4 Yamato class ships.

Doing a proper watch of Yugioh, got as far as the duel with the fish guy. Since I've watched all other YGO anime but didn't have a proper watch of this I decided to rectify it.
Duelist Kingdom is so odd compared to the rest of the series, there aren't much set rules yet so duels seem to be decided by how much you can make stuff up and convince your opponent that it's totally a thing.
And I haven't even reached the infamous Castle of Dark Illusions/Catapult Turtle episode yet....

with Harold dropping his White Castle & playing Spike, just waiting on the trailer before making a decision, but that does remind me, I never did finish watching it back when it played on Toonami iirc

Watching Dai-Guard now, this is absolutely how a real world giant robot would be. Rickety, kinda broken down, and tons of government red tape.

I started Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha last night and it was a cute 1st episode. I also started Non Non Biyori. I really like this show. What a weird school.

Currently at around episode 30-31 of rewatching Victory Gundam, and to be honest I do think the first 15 episodes aren't too bad when it comes to how the story was paced (Aside from how the first 5 episodes are somewhat out of order for some reason)... but the middle part is quite a slog right now, with nonsensical sequences of events happening "just because". (The infamous "Lube and Uso interrogation shower" scene, anyone remembers that?)

it was also with rewatching it that makes me realizes the biggest problem with the show: the individual aspects (Like the opening songs, titular Gundam design of the Victory and V2, the idea of exploring factions beyond Federation vs Zeon, etc) are all pretty solid and serviceable, but they just don’t fit together as a cohesive show.

For example, the Motorad fleet’s mechanical stuff is fine and can be fun but it doesn’t fit with the tone of the late UC era. The various death scenes would have been fantastic had it been built up properly and for characters that we grew to like and care about, like say the Ryu mourning scene in 0079. The parts are good on their own merit but nothing fits together.

Well I never said Victory was perfect. :lol

I've always felt Gundam never really fit in with the required 50 episode format for a year long show. Even Zeta, as near perfect as it is, has some pacing issues due to having to be stretched out to 50 episodes. Hell, I think G Gundam actually comes out the worst in having to be that long since you could tell most of the big tournament was just stalling for time. Most Gundam series would be perfect at 35-40 episodes.

Zanscare sometimes comes off as goofy. The whole wheel obsession, the fact that their higher ups dress with wigs, of all things.
Then you remember these are the same guys that kill people off by guillotine, and then there's the whole Angel Halo thing...

I didn't realize until after I finished that Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω is over. That explain the ending.

The Castle of Dark Illusions episodes!
This yugioh two-parter was infamous for the Catapult Turtle combo that Yugi pulled off.
I really enjoyed the duel since after the initial shock of his opponent's gimmick, he ended up being in control the rest of the duel, freaking out the Player Killer with his words, who ends up playing into Yugi's traps.

Each episode of Vivy is fucking phenomenal. I haven't fallen this deep into a non-Gundam anime in YEARS. Just...fuck. Studio Wit is just slamming goddamn hits!
