Bofuri S2 has been good. They are staying close to the light novel.

So I have a little problem today I'm trying to give Gurren Lagann a chance but I just couldn't pull myself together to watch the anime. Why? Because I kinda held a grudge against Gurren Lagann before. Do you guys have any tips on how I can let go of this grudge and watch the anime without having this dislike for TTGL lingering in my mind? Don't get me wrong, I WANT to watch Gurren Lagann, but it's that disdain that makes me second-guess whenever I'm about to watch it.

Why do you have that grudge in the first place?

Seriously, just watch the first episode. If you don't feel a little something when the fanfare theme hits at the end, then I don't know what to tell you.

I recently started SSSS Gridman. Did you guys know that there are Shattered Glass references in this!? (I’m kidding of course.) I’ve been on a bit of a Tokusatsu kick lately with Kamen Rider, Gridman, Ultraman, etc.

well, I have a grudge against Gurren Lagann because I'm not really one who watches the big popular anime that everyone else watches, loves, and continuously recommends people to watch, the mecha designs don't look as appealing in my opinion except for Arc-Gurren Lagann, and also the fact that I feel that my love for GaoGaiGar is keeping me from enjoying what is supposed to be one of Gainax Trigger's best series. Am I supposed to hate GaoGaiGar in order to enjoy Gurren Lagann?

You're allowed to like more than one thing.

Consider GGG as paving the way for GL, as something like the OG Super Robot revival anime.

Nobuhiko Hiyama even has a major role in both series (Gai in GGG, Viral in GL).

    Thats stupid, man.

Just like stuff. You don’t have to hate anything, there are no rules to liking or disliking something. Holding a grudge against a show you’ve never watched just because you percieve it as some sort of made up rival to something else you do like is pointless. Fandoms are not sports teams, and when you treat them like they are thats when it gets toxic.

I love Azur Lane, but I don’t hate Kantai Collection because it could be construed as it’s rival(I hate it for pushing an agenda, but thats another matter).

The full acronym for the series: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Roughly translated as "Heaven Breakthrough" Gurren Lagann.

And he's best known for Harunobu Madarame in Genshiken

I'd argue that he's best known as the voice of adult Link in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Super Smash Bros./Melee, if not by name.

I don't really hear Genshiken talked about much these days, so I sort of question that. There's another Madarame he voiced that's probably much more fresh in otaku minds in this day and age, and that's Ikkaku in Bleach.

    My bad on the misspelling.

I don’t know why anyone would even bother watching Kancolle considering some it’s creator’s regards to WWII which is what influenced it’s creation in the first place.

Oh no. Someone made some loose adaptation of WWII that barely if nothing talks about WWII. Never seen that before.

Next you'll tell me I shouldn't watch The Saga of Tanya The Evil because it glorifies Nazis or something.

Kancolle was made with the purpose of painting what happened to Imperial Japan as an unjustified tragedy they were undeserving of, which couldn’t be further from the truth considering Imperial Japan was responsible for the murder of over 10 million innocent civilians.

Tanya the Evil does not paint Germany in a positive light. Tanya is horrible and the show owns it. Kancolle makes Japan out to be a victim by portraying it’s characters as cute and innocent as to portray them as victims of an “imperialistic US aliens”. The creator of the series once stated that Kancolle was supposed to be about “the tragedy of the Japanese Navy” because thats how they view it. It’s revisionistic with a country responsible for it’s own genocidal campaign.

If it was a one off, I wouldn’t say anything, but the viewpoint of Japan being a victim in WWII is unfortunetly shared by a lot of people and had been long before this show, which is why I take a problem with it. That and some if it’s creators commemts.
