Really dislike it. Weathering is a complex aesthetic to get right, to the point where expensive adult collectibles still screw it up. When you weather something, there's a thin line between making something look awesome and making it look like a smeared, senseless mess. Random paint spatter applied to a toy is not good weathering. Moreover, detail such as weathering has not been a part of CHUG aesthetic in any meaningful way before. The shift toward it is really jarring, and it's going to look weird trying to put Siege stuff next to the rest of the collection unaltered.

Good thing the paint should come off pretty easy.

Weathering always looks bad to me and it does here too. I shouldn't have to put time and work into removing paint slop from brand new figures. If folks want to add a paint wash to theirs, go for it. It shouldn't be forced on most of the line though.

I'm not crazy about it. I wish they hadn't.

Hate it on Megatron. He is truly infected with cosmic rust. I'm hoping Takara releases a clean G1 cartoon coloured one.

Some of the older stock images and ones shown at conventions looked quite good and realistic, and so I got quite excited, but everything I've seen of the final product looks like what I've feared, looking like brush strokes and paint splatters. It looks like someone took a paintbrush loaded with silver paint and flicked their finger on the brush, making little spatters everywhere. It's not very good weathering at all.

If I get a few figures from the line, I'll probably alcohol it all off.

Seeing how Hasbro and Takara are doing “Brand Unification” and having the exact same figures released across both markets, I wouldn’t keep your hopes up about that.
