Finally done - maroon paint is hard to come by.

With this figure I tried to put on the enhanced chest plate with a hidden rocket launcher...the color matching of the translucent canopy is a bit off but I decide to keep it on.

Makes great displays! (with my crude remarking of thundercracker's boxes)

Yes! I saw this project through the beginning, and the results are rewarding and very well done.

Excellent stuff as always! You did a great job with the colour work, and the way the wings work is genius.

The paint on this and the other coneheads is really clean. What type of paints did you use? I was thinking of attempting a white paint of ER Prime's legs, but I'm worried I'll get a crusty or overly paint-y look.

Thanks. All these I used spray can then Tamiya acrylic paint for small areas/details. For preparation normally I spray one layer of Tamiya fine gray primer. For the white, I use a second layer of Tamiya white primer (white primer can't cover dark plastic well enough).

There are plenty of tips on internet about how to avoid spraying too thick and some are really good. It comes down to keeping the distance, don't linger on any spot, and spray multiple passes/layers rather than trying to cover every facet of your part in one go.

Thank you, this is quite helpful. I will consult several tutorials. Any that you recommend?

Nice, did you use TS-11 for the maroon?

I actually had the same idea with the missile chest plate for Thrust. I'd say just paint the tiny piece of orange window the same gold you did the faux cockpit. That's my plan.

Yes. I ended up using Testors mystic maroon. The Tamiya maroon is too purple.

I am so glad to have stumbled upon your Shapeways designs for the wings as I've been debating whether it would be better to go for the Earthrise designs or stick with the Siege figures given the overabundance of Siege Starscreams and Thundercrackers still clogging up shelves. I already have the Rainmakers and Hotlink, so these wings have sealed the deal for me. Now just to collect all of the donors.
