Well I'm dumb... the only reason i thought the front wheel was so elevated after I incorporated the hip armor/flush fake cockpit fix is because I also had the side guns mounted on the foot/wings which tilts it back a bit. With the guns off the front wheel is still elevated in the "flush" configuration but only by like a milimeter. Dont mind me lol

I think it is safe to say the hip armor rotation/flush 2nd cockpit IS without a doubt the intended transformation. Sorry for adding any confusion to the thread

Man, it's odd seeing the siege scuffing paint on a decepticon with those garish late 80's colours.

He's nice, but I'm sad that there's an almost zero chance that we see this figure in better colours. He's actually a more interesting design than a lot of the "G1 with joints" Generations figures we get under John Warden's management, but these colours are G1 to a fault. Heck, keep the colours, but the way each colour keeps to it's distinct area is deeply uninteresting.

...anyone removed the silver 'scuffing' paint with isopropyl alcohol?

I never cared for it so I might do that.

Pretty sure we'll get a redeco of some sort of this figure. Strongest rumour is Rotorstorm.

Excellent... Rotorstorm will be even better. He'll go great with T30 Springer, Takara Legends Topspin & Twinstwist, eHobby Kup etc.

Do you think they would re-tool the rotorstorm version to eliminate the 2nd cockpit and have the primary cockpit become his chest? Because a straight re-color would not be very accurate to the G1 design.

    Or Track’s? Edit: Guess not.

I wish I could buy more of those. The new Stage 4 stands are so flimsy.

See, I'd expect Rotorstorm to be significantly different, given how ambitious they're gettingvwith retools, plus that constant impulse to do "G1 with knees". (Okay, G1.5 in this case, but I think Rotorstorm will be covered)

Point is, more straightforward repaints like Crosshairs are increasingly rare, for better and worse. Better for character fidelity, but I'd not stake anything on getting a simple repaint of any generations figure now, barring established redecos like seekers, Datsuns or vanbros.

That's a good point, I can't think of any other helicopter transformer that has the cockpit symmetrically on its shins.

I loved the original Spinister, and copter TF's in general, so this is a nice update. Yes, out of context the colors are totally weird, but I can groove on that nostalgia. Being a Cybertronian mode rather than an Earth mode excuses a multitude of sins, including a belly cockpit. If that's the cost for the unique transformation and a truly kick ass robot mode, so be it.

My gripes are minor. I don't care for the guns and how hollow they are. I would have liked a way to mount them under the nose. And I don't understand why there are two 5mm holes directly behind the rotors.

Those holes are for the weaponiser system- every figure has holes in the same spots, with variations in the exact placement. Usually deluxes have had a single 5mm hole on the back, but due to the rotor Spinister gets two back pegs, more like a voyager. Are they useful? Debateable, but how often are the feet holes everyone has actually useful? IMHO, the weaponiser platform shoes never look good there, but they're present all the same.

Like them or not, there is an intended use for the foot holes, plus the potential to use blast pieces for a thrusting effect. Since you can't remove the rotor blades, I don't see much point to putting the peg holes directly underneath them.

I won't mention the crotch hole in the Siege seeker designs...

Are the rotors intended to lock in place, or do they just stay loose and are somewhat locked in place by the valley-design mechanism?

Found a lone Spinister in the wild today. Pretty solid figure from first impressions....

But has anyone else gotten an Autobot Spinister instruction booklet?

Let's hope the DJD don't find out about this.
