I had used peroxide tooth whitening gel to eliminate the yellowing on Netflix Soundwave and Megatron.

The yellowing returned to a lesser degree after a few months.

I can't be bothered with having to peroxide bath the figures regularly so I painted the yellowing parts on them.

 

Anyone have whitened samples of other toys from several years back? I am curious about the long term effects of the whitening process on plastic. I whitened a few things a couple years back, and I haven't noticed anything abnormal about them. I am, however, wondering if thos process might compromise the integrity of the plastic years down the line, especially with repeated treatment.

 

Just got a good deal on a SG Screamer however it’s bc it was yellowed to shit, any suggestions or cures known yet?

Not really.
As explained, the pics from latests pages are a second run. After the first run, the yellowing came back three month later.

 

I wonder if there's a protective coating you can spray on to prevent the 2nd yellowing  

 

It's not yellowing caused by sun, but chemical, internal to the plastic, so coating etc would be useless.

 

Did you just apply the tooth paste to the affected plastic? How long did you leave it for?

 

I was also wondering if I should to try putting tooth paste on my Tigatron   Has anyone done that?

 

It was not tooth paste, it was a gel that one puts into a mouth guard, mouth guard is then put on the teeth to whiten them overnight.

I deployed the gel from its syringe on to some of the yellowing parts of Soundwave and Megatron. After 24 hours, I washed the gel off the toys.

The result was that the yellowing was much reduced. After 3-4 months much of the yellowing returned.

I don't recommend the use of teeth whitening chemical as it is very expensive, usually only available from dentists and it could damage the figure in other unforeseen ways.

 

Sadly my g2 ramjet, tigertron, girmlock bw, is yellowing now. Getting tired of this crap
