I know. I’ve still got Transformers from the ‘90s* which don’t have any discolouration at all, yet ones bought new 2 years, 18 months ago rapidly yellowed. It’s bloody annoying.

Even noticed that the Legacy reissue of WfC Soundwave (“Cleanwave”) has yellowing on the joints on the ones in stock at my local Smyths.

* started in ‘85, but none of my originals survive, sadly.

I don't know which one has me more annoyed right now, my Netflix Soundwave that was displayed on the bottom shelf with the front nearly covered, or Sandstorm, who was displayed hanging on the wall IN VEHICLE MODE.....

If I recall correctly his arms are supposed to be all the same color.... Somehow his forearms turned brown...

If you look at it like a Schroedinger's cat kinda deal, they are both yellowed and unyellowed at the same time until you look at them to inspect. So don't do it!

 

Its frustrating as hell to see figures a year or two old turning different colors, when this guy stands in the same environment and is just as pure white as the day I got him....

Make it make sense HASBRO!!!!

 

Can Hasbro be held responsible for this at all?

I have Generations Drift, ROTF Mindwipe, Banzaitron and a few others from the movie days. Those figures still hold up to this day even better than some of these newer ones.

 

We've wondered about that for a while now, but pretty sure this could fall under their standard, corporate boilerplate "Items may appear differently than in promotional images" language to get out of any potential legal liability. Because the figures still technically function fine, but just look "gross".

 

I counted 5 figures that are yellowing in my collection, all of which show changes that are minor compared to some in this thread.

I purchased Generationa Selects Cyclonus last week. No yellowing observed yet. My copies of SS86 Jazz, SS BB Ratchet and SS86 Starscream show no signs of yellowing. I don't own the other affected figures.

I live in south east Louisiana. The majority of the year the weather is hot and humid. The temperatures fluctuate wildly during the short fall-winter-spring season. Central AC is a necessity.

 

Hasbro is full of shit when it comes to this...

 

I bet TakaraTomy isn't much better. I bet you right now they're probably coming up with an excuse to get out of it for the Japanese buyers affected by it.

 

They need to worry about that failed PF line.
