Fair warning words from the Wise, a Custom project procrastinated on long enough may just MUTATE! I malingered over converting the Siege Prowl I got from @nice sideburns primarily for a "proper" ER Prowl head into a "G1 Checkpoint" so long that an entirely different path opened up due to new figures dropping in the (somewhat vast) interim! The Autobot Alliance ER Prowl 'Streak-y head got popped back off the Siege Prowl bod to get slapped on top of one of my 3 Autotrooper bodies instead to make SIEGE CHECKPOINT! The Cybertronian Breadvan made a way better alt. mode for a WFC CHECKPOINT... ...plus if need be it could BE a Checkpoint! Of course going from a generic to a named character he needed properly filling with an Autotrooper buck filler set based on the Go better Siege Vanbro fillers! The Autotrooper head didn't go to waste though, behold the resulting Bonus "Pursuit" Autotrooper! (Yes, he extra armour bits were as far as I'd gotten on CHECKPOINT v.1!)
I like them both. I think they look great. Only thing that looks kinds off to me is the length of the neck with the Prowl head on it...what I've done in the past was use small O-rings to disguise the look a bit.
Even "Somebody's Favourites" need love! Messed up the titling though as my design brief to myself was "Legacy Trilogy "G1 Universe" CHECKPOINT", and I suppose technically it's a Legacy figure base - my attempt to avoid falling into nitpicking arguments has left me nitpicking myself - oh, the irony! It is something of a Lazy Custom, and I'm on the fence about doing so as the stalk-y neck gives a bit more nod & waggle for expression that a collaring might lock out but it might happen if I happen across something that can fill it a bit without effecting that "extra articulation".
There's not much difference but you did ask very nicely so... The original intent back when this was going to be a "Siege Checkpoint" was that I would reverse the alt. mode to be a Kup-like Cybertronian Flatbed with modded mountings that used the shoulder cannon ports for attachment to use the same ConstructBots Gatling Guns.
Not a Hot Rod/Rodimus redeco 0/10 All jokes aside, I absolutely love this design of Checkpoint, thought it fit the Autotrooper design better. I like the idea of he being an Autotrooper captain, or lieutenant. But yeah, amazing work!
Absolutely an intent behind the design, I'm glad someone else picked up on it despite me not grouping him with Troopers or actually stating it!
