Really hoping this guy goes the way of Shockwave and gets knocked down by online retailers to the pricepoint he should be. I would like to own him, but not for the Leader Class pricepoint, especially when he is shorter than the TR Voyager (which is what I currently have displayed).

I'm sure sliding that huge pin out and cleaning up some of the plastic in between the two base pieces will help with the "not laying flush" issue.

If you ditch the shoes, the coal car now has an open top, and it doesn't really impact the launchpad mode at all. They might end up back in the box, to be honest...

I think he was referring to the TR versions' spats, not Siege's platforms.

Yup. The feet on the TR version drive me crazy.

Just got him in. Love all his modes. Pretty easy to transform once you get the hang of it. Love the extra guns so some of my Decepticons can have some fire power.

    Agreed.
Siege has spoiled me with the ankle tilts. I hope it's the new standard moving forward.

Astrotrain looks good, but I agree the Leader price point has completely turned me off. I will wait to see if he ends up at discount. He's also supposed to be released in Earthrise packaging right?

The combined rifle, if you leave off the side guns, seems based on Titans Return Astrotrain's rifle (not the chair-gun). I find that interesting because THAT rifle looks nothing like G1 Astrotrain's rifle, nor the 2006 Classics Astrotrain's rifle. It's like HasTomTak is retconning Astrotrain's main gun.

I just did something that I don't think I've done before in this hobby - I bought back Legends Astrotrain after having sold my original copy in preparation for this figure's release.

I'm remembering how fun the LG version is, and it's nice to have a figure of the character on-par in size to Blitzwing and my other Classics Voyagers.

HAHA. I completely forgot TFCC Astrotrain was even a thing. I had it for a little while. Fun figure.

I figured out the reason the platform doesn't sit flat. Took the entire thing apart (super simple with large pins) and found that the tolerances between some pieces are too tight. The black plastic is more pliable, and seems to create the most issues.
I circled/highlighted the areas needing attention:

    End result:

Also, the tail section of the shuttle locks in and doesn't just sit loosely on top. Put the tail between the arms before attaching the thruster piece. There's a small channel there that locks in. Also, the elbow angles lock onto the back of the shuttle as well.

This is the best Astrotrain figure that we've gotten. Yeah, I wish he was taller, but, I'm glad that we got what we got.

If you've got the US$50 to spare, and aren't too obsessive about scale, this is a great figure.

My only issues are that I wish he was taller and had a proper launch gantry, and how tough it can be to tab in the thruster nacelle assembly to his arms in spaceship mode. His calves (lower legs) are also really thick and his wings hang down on his backside which limits posing somewhat. Those seem like nitpicks given what this figure does right.

    Definitely a recommended buy.

Yep, all the black areas that are circled. I didn't clean it up so it could be seen which areas are needing sanded.

I did just something similar. It looks like a molding line isn't cut back as much as it should be. Once its pin is pushed out and you look at it it's easy to see. I just exactoed it a bit down and it fits great now.

Mine's lays flat now - I folded the hinge as if I were making the tender car, then just blasted the black and gray plastic surrounding the pin with a heat gun. I then pressed the black piece back into the gray section (as if I were converting back to the landing pad) and kept up the pressure for a minute.

sanded it down on mine, took quite a while as i wanted to be careful, looks like hastak got the expansion of the black plastic wrong, meaning it doesnt quite fit the hinges properly. seems to fold flat nicely now though :)  hes a good figure, def worth 50.

Honestly the TR version ISNT a bad figure, just pop another head on him and bam, a new character who turns into a death murder train and space cruiser
