I received the Technic bars today. Unfortunately they are "dark" grey instead of black.
    IMG_20200321_154953.jpg
So first I measured where I need wholes in the covers of the alt mode to attach the cannons and then drilled them in.
    IMG_20200321_175931.jpg IMG_20200321_175711.jpg
Then I cut the bar into pieces to be connectors for the Technic pins.
IMG_20200321_175832.jpg IMG_20200321_182705.jpg IMG_20200321_175743.jpg They will be fixed in place with hot glue and/or Apoxy sculpt.
And I drilled wholes into the cannons to put the pins in.
IMG_20200321_175635.jpg IMG_20200321_175613.jpg They will be fixed in place by hot glue, too.

I haven't split the cannons yet. I will do this at the end because I think it's easier to make everything fit together while the cannons are not seperated.

The wheels (my second PotP Novastar) arrived today. So I made the axle connectors and painted the rims:
    IMG_20200324_170442.jpg IMG_20200324_170502.jpg IMG_20200324_170415.jpg IMG_20200324_170340.jpg IMG_20200324_171354.jpg IMG_20200324_172745.jpg IMG_20200324_182401.jpg
First I painted the inner ring of the rims red, too, but I didn't like this as much as keeping it black so I repainted it black and kept the others black.

EDIT: The connectors hold in place by friction very well so no need to glue them in place.

Does anybody have some spare PotP Moonracer mold rear wheels lying around? :D
I'm not sure if I'm happy with the small front wheels. Doesn't look that bad but just have a look for yourself:

    Thanks a lot, man :D
I hope to progress with this thing faster now. I worked on another YET unposted custom for the last two weeks but preferred to continue working on other already started projects instead of taking pictures. So maybe there will be a flood of new pictures of my customs soon.

I'm actually not a paint expert  :D
I just buy some stuff and hope it's good. But I can't really compare. I started with Vallejo. I really like their metal colors. And most of my other paints are from GREEN STUFF WORLD now. They have amazing products.
You can also start with GUNDAM MARKERS. That's what I kind of did. First I had Sharpies but I really do not recommend those.

    For tools:
    - hobby knife
    - a set of small screw drivers like for laptops for disassembly, I have this one or you can get one like this
    - glue (loctite and a hot glue gun)
    - toothpicks - they are so versatile: you can mix paints, actually paint fine details with them, even erase some paints
    - airbrush cleaner to remove paint
    - cotton sticks to remove paint
    - masking tape/liquid
    - clear coats (I recommend Tamiya here)
    - pincers
    - tweezers
    - some good brushes in different sizes (don't buy the cheapest ones - if you want to seriously get into painting, pay up to $10 for your finest brush for example)
    - a dremel (but be careful with your fingers if you use the saw attachement)

And if you dare to jump into cold water then get a portable airbrush setup like this. That's the one I have. It's perfect for (base) coating and especially handy if you don't wanna have a collection of large and imprecise spray cans gathered at your place. For paints for airbrushing either buy ones that are valid for airbrush but they might be way too thin to apply them by brush or buy regular ones and acrylic thinner to thin them down to become valid for airbrush. But Vallejo's Metal Colors for example are good for both without any modifications.

I hope that'll help you to have a good start.

Little update: I glued pretty much everything that needs to be glued in place.
    IMG_20200419_155651.jpg IMG_20200419_155727.jpg IMG_20200419_155609.jpg IMG_20200419_155538.jpg
And added some apoxy for some holes:
    IMG_20200419_155818.jpg
And everything that's supposed to be black is black now:
    IMG_20200419_190609.jpg
So next and final steps are the rest of the paint job and details.

Except of that I just ordered another figure yesterday from which I wanna take a part and add it to this one (IF it fits). So I hope it'll arrive next weekend (from a neighboring country).
So that would need black paint and glue, too.
