This looks a bazillion times better than stock. This guy and Barricade really got done dirty in the foot department.

I wish there was an easy swap out for these feet but I couldn’t figure a way unfortunately :(

    Thank you sir.

    lol. I appreciate the sentiment.

Unfortunately this upgrade is not straight forward but fortune favors the bold.

Thank you. I will be putting these up on Cults3d. I will probably do that at the weekend.

Thanks and fair point about the foot detail. I may add that before I upload to Cults 3d.

Thanks. Agree with you completely about the bad foot designs on this guy and Barricade. Since I upgraded both my figures, I’m much happier with them :)

Added some detailing to the foot just now.
Will print it in the next few days and swap it out with the current version so we can see what it looks like.

Wow, it's actually perfect now! You're super talented man. Can't wait to see it printed out and eventually have my own sometime down the line.

One "easy" swap would be at the thigh swivel or hip ball joint, then just have ball joints to put the original alt mode kibble on.

    Trying something with the backpack.
He looks soooo much better without it…
Won’t finish the plan tonight but got it started.
I’m going to try changing how the backpack sits on his back. See if I can lift it up a bit and change the orientation.

Removing the back pack was my plan as well, nice to see it looks as good as I’d hoped without it. Interested to see what you come up with here

Relatively simple mod after printing an alternative to the stock lever that moves the car shell onto the back. The new lever allows the backpack to be rotated 180 degrees and sit differently on the back. It doesn’t sit snug. So I might need to add another part to hold it more firmly in place. But, I think it looks better.
It also currently prevents you from storing the spikey spoiler on his back. On the game version, the spikes were far less of a feature than on the toy. So, I’m ok losing that look. Although I will try and think of a way to incorporate it back into the figure in some way.
The backpack now sits a bit higher. So, it inhibits the waist movement less. It also partially shows over the shoulders. Which, again, I’m ok with because the game version of sideswipe seemed to have more bulk showing over his shoulders.

I managed to make a little adapter that can attach to the car shell backpack and allow the spikey spoiler to be attached in a way that allows it to fit almost perfectly to the shape. The adapter can stay in place for transformation and sideswipes gun can be mounted in vehicle mode.
The position of the spoiler means its less of a feature - which is closer to the game look.
I still have a little work to do on the fit tolerance but it’s almost there.
I’m thinking I might paint the wheel arch on the spoiler dark as faux wheel when viewed from the back
Anyway, almost done with the mods I think.

    Does the spoiler parts-form?

Yes. Correct. It just has a simple clip on attachment.

You have just sold me on this figure. I agree. It's like they ran out of time and had to figure out how to make it work.

Had an idea this weekend after receiving my latest Magic Square figure.
I’ve always liked how MS and Newage offer different hands to enhance the posability of figures.
I’ve created alternate hands before for the voyager/deluxe size figures but they’ve always just been the same open handed look that can hold a weapon (Barricade and Starscream) - which I do think looks better than the stock hands.

So, I decided to up my game and designed a whole bunch of hand styles that can just be switched in and out for different occasions.
I’m thinking of making different scaled versions for different size figures.
They would need to be painted and finished but here’s the set on our boy, Sideswipe.

Your efforts on this figure are spectacular, makes it so much better than the stock version.

Always wanted this, shame there’s no consistent hand attachment between figures
