I know it popular to rage at Bayformers Prime and his one liners, I did on occasion, but why don´t people rage and WfC lines? Some of them are just weird and also of character for Optimus. Maybe I missed the debate or is there a double standard?

 

The only one liner from Prime I feel is justified at raging about in the movieverse is when Optimus and the bots enter Chicago and he says something SO CHEESY like "for today, in the name of freedom, we take the battle to them!" ::waves American flag::

But back no topic, do you have a specific line?

 

To me WFC didn't really have many memorable Optimus lines that were completely original. The only ones were the references to the past.

 

At the moment no. The game was pretty forgettable to me.  

But I went "This ain´t right" every time Optimus spouted some random one liner. One of them involved "decepticons and bulletholes".

I didn't find anything Optimus said in WFC to be drastically out of character.

 

I quite enjoyed his occasional bouts of smartass remarks. My favorite being,

"Bumblebee, we are in a high-security prison. Surrounded by countless Decepticons bent on our destruction."

"So it is bad?"

"It's purely a matter of perspective."

 

 

Yes, in fact I really liked the dialogue in general in the first game, had that nice G1 banter feel.

 

God I love that conversation. I chuckle every time.

 

Yup. Sometimes his head-shots can sound a little out of character.

"One Decepticon, Perforated." Other than that, nothing stands out as out of character.

 

You see, it's because WFC Optimus looks G1, so there.

I like happy-go-lucky Optimus, excitedly picking up grenades and making cracks when he ices 'Cons. The other Autobots do it and no one complains, why does it make Optimus such a horrible dude?

 

The OP mentioned a double standard and that is exactly what the issue is; since the Movieverse Optimus is a creation of Michael Bay (either that or because he doesn't resemble G1 enough, take your pick), he doesn't get any slack or tolerance, and he gets blasted with whatever some fans can pick up, like his oneliners (while many other Optimuses, including the original, had their own). G1 had a bunch of them, from his speech to Megatron at the top of the Hoover Dam to "As the humans say, fat chance, fathead!" I wish I wasn't making up that last one.

Meanwhile, since G1 Optimus is G1, he gets away with anything and everything.

Ahhh, I could never get tired of that one.  

 

I loved his, "Take THAT, Decepticon punk!" line in... well, somewhere. I remember it specifically in Escalation, but surely it came somewhere else as well. Optimus was already less stoic then he is in Prime or other series in WFC. If he could reach a sort of comedic level as in Beast Wars with Primal ("Yesss." as the boss munky quoted), that'd be excellent.

 

When he scores a headshot:

"One shot is all it takes."

About Ironhide:

Ratchet: "Old friend of yours?"

Op: "Old...and grumpy."

 

Some of his lines in Escalation:

(Getting hit by teammate) 'Save that for the enemy!' or 'HEY - Stop that!'

(Accidentally hitting a teammate) 'My apologies friend'

(Using a grenade or mine - not sure which) 'Fire in the hole!'

(Using a healing grenade) 'Get as close to the centre as you can!'

(Using a rocket) '...not much more to say than that, is there?'

 

  Can we just let the G1 Prime vs. Movie Prime thing die down?  

I didn't hear anything out of character for Optimus in WfC, and I've played through the game about four or five times. I thought his dialogue was pretty well written and well executed.

 

I thought in the game he also had a couple lines showing remorse for having to kill decepticons. I can't remember them off hand, but I'm pretty sure he did.

 

Always liked "Right between the optics!"
