The deluxe WFC figures hold alot of nostalgia for me and finally decided to treat them to a bit of a glow up. Megatron here is the first one to get a face lift.
Day 1 has involved a black base coat with a custom silver mix. The red that I've used here is actually quite pink when mixed but when thinned out and sprayed over the black it looks great, pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
Really happy with the purple highlights, I think they pop well enough without looking tacky.
The most fun part of these kind of paint jobs is the weathering. Step 1 was a silver dry brush over the darker parts then a black/brown wash over everything to make him look nice and dirty.

Couldn't be more pleased with this guy. Up next will be soundwave.

Hahah yep, love this guy. I was about 12 when the game came out and this figure was my first megatron so he holds alot of nostalgia for me.

 

Holy hell me to, literally the exact same age, I brought him with a HFTD legends ravage.

 

Starting to add more details. Using the white as a base for the glow effects. Excited to get the main details out of the way so I can get to weathering him up.
Going to try and do some work on the head to hide the gaps and screw hole.
He's coming along nicely, working on this guy is getting me excited to start soundwave.

 

Didn't like the figure, but I understand nostalgia. Your face lift looks OUTstanding! Those colors are super rich, can't wait to see the end product

It was pretty commonly used to make custom Galvatrons.

 

It's definitely not perfect. I would love to see planet x do a larger, more game accurate version of him. The deluxe definitely has issues, he's not very fun to pose just because his arms are designed so strange.

Thanks! Yep, just started Soundwave. I'll be doing Optimus as well. On the fence with bumblebee, I may do him just so I can say I've done the original 4 figures. I think the seekers would be a fun project.

I miss those days of wfc/foc multiplayer after school. Ah how I wish we would get another tf game like that.
