I think he means the T-Rex hip parts, that go on the backpack.

Oh, I see. Dunno why anyone would leave them up but to each their own I suppose.

Cos it looks like Starscream-esque wings and less like kibble hanging off of him

I haven't decided yet but I think I'll leave them down and rotated inwards as much as possible

You're welcome. I make similar posts and am mighty pissed about the lackluster reception. It's such an important thing to point out. Should be treated as such. Making it to the front page if it were up to me

(Not my picture) Honest to god, there's something off about the new Megatron that I can't quite put my finger on and I find myself drifting towards the 10th Anniversary version more. It might be the reddish-purple parts and overwhelming beige sections that are turning me off, I'm not sure. Am I crazy??

He does have very intense colors, but that's something I like about him.

He also feels, I don't know, more sci-fi than the original toy, somehow. He does have a quality that's hard to nail down, but whatever he's doing really works for me personally. I even put my OG Megs in storage, I like this one so much.

I do, well I know it's not meant to be 100% show accurate if you take those hip pieces and rotate them up it looks, to me anyway, to clean up a lot better, clear up waist rotation, they can look more imposing.

If you look at the CGI model all of the T-Rex parts seem to fold up high on the back anyway

Wow, the head actually stays the same during transformation. Also seems they don't change the dinosaur arms

The beige coloring always looked off to me on this figure. Way too much of it.

Yeah, i'm with you, but rotating them up puts the weight further back making him pretty back heavy for some reason. So i rotate them up when im playing with him and down for display

Where did you get that transformation clip? Is there an archive of those somewhere?

Megatron cuts such an imposing silhouette. As someone who owns the original mold via T-Wrecks, I'm not going to claim it's a straight upgrade (the hip guns are kind of underwhelmingly dinky on the Kingdom figure) but there are a lot of meaningful improvements over that old figure, namely the addition of meaningful articulation in both arms and, you know, a real hand. He's imposing, he's old-school Leader big, he's fairly hefty, and while the backpack is undeniably huge his stompers are more than big enough to keep him balanced in most poses. The purple of his robot mode bits is vibrant, certainly, and not show accurate, but I find I quite like it. (Of course, I'm the sort of person that really liked the creative liberties that the older CHUG designs took with the characters, so take my opinion with a grain of salt) And that T-Rex mode, by god what a beast mode. The decision to have the Beast Mode hips be fully articulated was a brilliant one, and that combined with the amount of movement you can get out of the head and neck makes for a wonderfully expressive Tyrannosaurus. I have only one major qualm with this toy, and it's the crotch. Not because it doesn't want to tab together, but because I think my copy tabs together a little too well. It's a pain to split it apart every single time, and while the end result speaks for itself, I find myself worrying that I'm going to break the toy every single time I reach that step. That aside... I love this toy. I really do. It's no Masterpiece, but it's the next best thing for a fraction of the price and I implore anyone who likes this version of Megatron to pick it up. You'll be glad you did.

I painted the finger claws and t-rex eyes with these paint markers I already had on hand and it worked great. The paint stays slightly flexible and rubbery even after it dries and it doesn't seem to scrape or chip easily:

Honestly not sure what chemicals they use because the dried stuff is immune to my usual thinners; the only thing that took it off my paint pans was a long soak in acetone.

EDIT: Also, I just discovered that it will eat through Hasbro factory paint, as I found out when I tried to touch up Kingdom Primal's scraped thighs and tried to wipe off a spill from lower down the leg. Oops. So be careful.

It's easy enough to decant and mix; just press down on the nib in a container of some sort and it flows out.

I also did some bot mode customization with them.

A bit fiddly to transform, but he looks great in both molds. I'm struck by how similar he is to his original version. But he looks awesome, and looks good next with Earthrise Megs.
