More progress. The back side design is done and the front side was sharpened up a bit. These should be final but I want to check the alt mode storage again - I spaced the wings back 1mm in robot mode to keep them clear of the shoulder launcher, but that might have made them too thick to fit under the car. So I need to take a look at that. But I should have this posted in the next day or so, and I have another part for Wheeljack ready to go as well.

I'm pleased to announce that these are now available to download:
    https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/earthrise-wheeljack-wings

I will get them uploaded to Shapeways today and post here once they are approved by SW and available for sale.

Here are a few new pics (note the stock car-mode wings stored on the back of the legs in bot mode):

Alt mode storage, and alt mode "flight mode". They just barrrrrrrely fit under the car, but they do!:

And finally, here's a shot with my new Devastation-style wrenches for Wheeljack, which can be found here:

The Wheeljack wings are now available on Shapeways:
Earthrise Wheeljack Wings by robots78 on Shapeways

Prices aren't too bad, they start at $8.00. The two wings are connected by two small sprue pieces that will need to be trimmed off. This is done to make it one piece and keep the price down.

I made a bunch of materials available at increasing detail levels. There's no silver color from Shapeways unless you go to metal, but I did include a gray option. I think most people will opt to paint these silver.

I don't have any direct experience with it, but the "Smooth Fine Detail Plastic" is sort of translucent, maybe it could be tinted with a thinned-out paint to make it a semi-transparent gray?

Could you have made the wings double flip for each to keep as car mode?

I'm going to work on an alternate design that will work for both modes. The wings will be longer than stock and kind of overlap each other for car mode. They won't look as nice as these, but will be an option for those who don't want any partsforming.

I knew he looked weird before and now I know why! Those stock wings made him look short and boxy. Good job!

Here's a rough proof-of-concept print of an overlapping wing set that can work in both modes, as suggested by @phoenixliger and @tigatron2002.

This is just a rough design to work out the engineering and sizing. Next I'll work on the aesthetics, including refining the overall profile. I plan to obscure the asymmetrical sculpt by adding detailing that makes them look more similar, along with some of the linework from my original wing design. Once I have sculpt done, I'll figure out the best way to makes them two-color, which might end up being a two-piece design for each wing.

Getting closer... I have the details added in now, but I need to play with the depths of everything. I'm trying to make everything work and look good while keeping the wings as thin as possible. Right now the details are embossed half as much as my other wing design, and it's not enough IMO. Making a two-piece/two-color version will also make it difficult to keep the thickness down.
