My GX 08 upgrade set arrived. Will do a quick review with my iphone since my cam’s not around.

Came in a nice tiny box inside an envelope.

Everything is as described in their ad.

    Red shoulder pieces fit nicely.

His top leg fillers fit pretty good, one of them is a tad loose. Needs a dab of glue.

Lower leg pieces fit pretty good as well.
A bit of glue is also needed and one of the square pegs won’t fit in the hole. Easy fix by shaving.

Shoulder cannon falls right out of his right side, but pegs in pretty good on the other. May be the mold’s fault on this one. Will need to put a layer of something on the square peg to make it thicker to stay in.
The rectangular shoulder peg can flip up into a 5mm peg which was a cool suprise. He can hold it in his hands.

Wing pieces fit perfectly. Only bummer is you’ll lose the spoiler decal.

Would give the set a solid B+. Does what it needs to but needs a bit of work to get it solid. No regrets here. They did a good job.

    Had no probs transforming it.

It was wierd that this set went from Chicago, to China, back to Illinois again before making it’s way here. I guess it was made in China? No biggie really.

Oooh, I haven’t been paying attention and didn’t know about this kit. I’ll have to go hunt one down. Thanks for the review!

I just picked up wheeljack a few days ago. Really happy with him aesthetically! Car mode is gorgeous and bot mode is sooo much better than the previous CHUG versions. I have to say though almost all the tolerances/joints are subpar. The knees are a bit loose, the left ankle tilt won't completely sit flush for car mode, the elbows are just ok, and the biggest issue is that the left bicep swivel on the mushroom peg had flash on it that prevented full rotation. I had to take it out and sand it before I could rotate it for transformation. None of these are huge issues at all, but having all of them there to make almost every joint iffy is not fun. But after a little bit of work he's a great figure.

I finally found Wheeljack, the only issue I have with him is that some of his wheels don’t turn too well. Anyone have a solution?

He’s a good figure. The high point of Earthrise. But he’s a QC mess.

It’s likely you’ve got extra plastic on the wheel. One of mine is like that too. You’d have to pop it out without breaking it, which is the real trick, take an exacto knife and trim any plastic excess. I have a bum wheel too but the wheel design has broken on me before on other figures so I don’t want to risk it.

One of my front windshield halves that ticks into the leg pops off every time I transform him. I looked closer and the ring cracked. I’ll glue it together and hope that fixes it

I have this issue with mine also; one of the front wheels doesn't turn freely...

Yup, the weird thing is that they all turn freely in bot mode but not in vehicle mode.

If anyone is still having trouble with one of the wheels turning freely, I was able to fix it by just swapping the front and rear wheels. Not sure why it worked but it did.

A question for those who has the spoiler upgrade.

With the way the wing folded over each other in car mode, won't it looks weird in bot mode from some angle, due to the wing overlapping with each other?

Has anyone found that these front bits of the windscreen, which go inside his legs, are terribly loose and fall off easily?

    How did you fix it?

Even with some QC issues, this guy has quickly become one of my favorites.

I ended up using two layers of clear nail polish on the inside of the windshield piece to thicken it up.

I might do another layer, though

I love everything about this figure, except the two little windshield pieces that flip up to finish the front of the windshield. They pop off literally everytime i transform it. I saw someone's windshield extension upgrade, but I didn't really like it. I'd rather there be some way to cap off the pegs that those little things swivel on, so that they can't pop past the "cap". I stared at it and thought of one way to possibly do it. Fill in the hollow part of the peg with something like epoxy for plastic, drill a super tiny hole for a super tiny screw, and screw down into the peg with a washer that is the exact size to cap it off.

May I know how you remove the wheels? I’m wary of breaking mine. Thanks!

    I just popped them off.
