Or...Dead Prime. If you've got the Earthrise Leader then you know what to expect. It's basically a goddamn fantastic mold I feel. It's gonna be hard to get another Optimus as good as this guy. Deco is amazing, and really sells the dead Optimus look. There isn't much to say about this other than I goddamn love it. I was already in love with the original color of this mold and honestly I'll buy whatever repaints of this I can get. The head is fantastic! Windshields could use some cracks but I'll just paint some in myself.

What's interesting is that the deco isn't exactly the same. You'll notice on the sides of the cab, the Dead Optimus has some transparent plastic coming through while on the Alive Optimus that part is painted over. Interesting!

Tell ya what this guy needs on him though...

Yeah, AUOP has more paint apps and custom head for the same price...which makes me wonder why Hastak couldn't just paint EROP's legs all blue. The calf areas on AUOP are actually painted black. The extra paint makes for a more uniform deco and looks more cohesive compared to EROP. Even AUOP's nose is painted silver. The left lower abdomen has the battle wound from the movie. All in all, looks great.

Some people reported issues with left chest peg not staying put. Mine has not had that issue.

The hands were a little difficult to open at first because they're also painted black but eventually did with enough force.

I'm still shocked Hasbro had the ball bearings to do this and call it AU Prime. Like it's Dead Prime; like our childhoods couldn't get more messed up this comes out and says on the site page "Relive the 'classic' moment from the '86 film".

Alternate Universe label reminds me of early DBZ censoring. Goku is in "Another Dimension" and found himself in the "Home For Infinite Losers".

I'm more jealous of the Super Treasure hunts, and the Big-Air Bel Air that I have yet to find...:D

    Great review!

I still need a non-exo suit Daniel and I forgot to remove the Matrix for total scene accuracy but glad Hasbro and Takara made this figure:

The '57 Chevy is the one I absolutely wanted this year. The other ones are kind of "eh" to me. Big-Air Bel Air I saw a few times today at Target. They should have the mix in with that one in it! I took that one apart and I'm waiting on some off road Real Riders to swap onto it. I'll probably do some light detail painting in the cab too!

Hell yeah! I was gonna do something like this too but I didn't wanna move a bunch of figures around.

Another difference between the two are the trailers' wheels. Earthrise Optimus' trailer has 10 lug nuts per wheel, while AU Optimus' trailer's wheels are smooth, with no lug nuts. Weird.

It looks like it from the pictures, but just wanted to confirm, are the parts of the lower legs that are grey on the regular figure painted on this one?

i don’t have mine yet (should arrive tomorrow), but another difference based on the above are the cab wheels. Looks like AU got the silver paint treatment.

Just opened mine. Looks great, although, I think I would have preferred some painted cracking details under the windows.

Received mine today. Deco reminds me of one of those Bape Convoy toys. One of a kind. Personally I’d like to see darker gray on thighs and trailer though. A bit more paint on trailer, especially inside, wouldn’t hurt either.

Which TeamFourStar capitalized on in DBZ Abridged; whenever Goku or Gohan swore, instead of Hell, they’d usually go “What the HFIL?”

This is my first experience with the mold, and it’s a top level figure. Wonderful likeness, great proportions and articulation, fun transformation with just the right level of complexity, minimal kibble, and an impressive level of paint. Decent accessories as well. I think this looks fantastic in both modes. Only QC issue I have is that the left front wheel flap does not peg strongly into the leg, but that’s a minor quibble.

I’m largely a G1 and MP collector, but this is probably my favorite figure in quite some time, makes me consider getting other WFC stuff. Pics below:

May have only had a few seconds of screen time in the 86 movie, but he’a already given me a few hours of fun. Can’t recommend this guy enough.

Would love to get this but won't buy from amazon. Staff are treated too badly for me to support it.

Hopefully someone else gets it in. Think it has a lot of novelty value

I love the fact that this is basically an action figure of a corpse
The left side of the chest on mine doesn't sit flush, but I think it helps accentuate the gunshot wound more
All in all, a morbidly great figure

Took hasbro long enough to dead optimus properly considering he's died over 20 times in the franchise

Mine arrived Friday. Major deformity with the pins not aligning correctly so the chest doesn’t click into place too firmly in robot mode.

    Anyone else having this issue?
