Anybody else having a Disc Read error on WfC on XBox 360? I'm asking because I bough this game when it first came out and it is still in pristine condition. Then I do an XBox Live system update and all of a sudden WfC is giving me a Disc Read Error. All my other games work fine, it is just WfC. No scratches, smudges etc etc, just decided it didn't want to work anymore. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem since the last system update?
I know that Microsoft was going to do a system update to allow their new disks to be playable on the 360, and that a small percentage of consoles would be rendered completely unplayable. But that would mean you couldn't play any 360 game. Honestly, I've heard so many stories like this it's unbelievable. A system update, and then some game in your library stops working.
Okay, now it is miraculously working again, but everytime I try playing Team Deathmatch it freezes on the load screen and I have to reboot the console. WTF is going on?
No just WfC. My Halo games work, Dark of the Moon works and so do my Gears of War ones (The only other games I've tried multiplayer on since). And it's only Team Deathmatch. Escalation etc work fine.
My old Xbox 360 only cracked when playing Halo Reach, it finally decided it couldn't handle it and fried its own hard drive. Yours just may be on its way out.
I can't answer why it does that. I've had similar experiences. My first system played games fine but the demo for The Darkness would freeze it every time. A week or two later and it red ringed. I've also worked at GameStop and such experiences are not uncommon. Just be prepared for this to get worse. There is no solution to this problem other than replacement. And Microsoft won't replace it until it breaks, and even then only if it is still covered by their 3 year warranty, for free anyway.
I concur with what else has been said, So I will warn you now, Each number Red Lights symbolizes a different problem. Key: [UL] = Upper Left [UR] = Upper Right [LL] = Lower Left [LR] = Lower Right 1 red light [UL]: Error E47 (Internal hardware fail, normally diskdrive) 2 red lights [UL-LL]: Overheat (Cooling system e.g. fan, failure) 3 red lights [UL-UR-LL]: RRoD (Fatal Exception Occured/Critical Hardware Failure) 4 Red Lights [UL-UR-LL-LR]: No scart lead detected. NOTE: If you get Error E47 [Red light UL] You will inevitably end up with RRoD. If you get E47 get it fixed then, if warranty is expired it should be cheaper if fixed at this piont before getting the RRoD. Would probably be cheaper still to get a new box.
I never said you did, I'm just warning what each of the four most common combinations mean. Back to the disk, spray the disk with deoderant and dry it with kitchen roll, I've done it to several disks including a copy of Sonic Adventure DX on the gamecube that previously never worked. It's never failed me yet so it's worth giving it a try on your WFC disk.
