I've been watching Battlestar Galactica on Netflix and I realized that the Vehicons from TF Prime look and move a lot like Cylon Centurions. And now that I think of it, the Decepticon Warship has design elements that are similar to a Colonial battlestar. Is this a coincidence or do you think the creators of Prime were fans of the series?

If you mean the visor, then the Insecticons have it, too. And a bunch of other shows' characters I might have never seen.
I cannot tell about the moving style. But the long fingers do remind me of the Vehicons.

Obviously were. The hands, the overall build, the visors but also the shape of their heads...Wouldn't be surprised if the silver Vehicons were a sneaky way to amp the homage up further. I don't mind though, since they look so damn badass, and still manage to make it feel like their own thing, rather then a copy.

They all looked like generic Decepticons from the other movies to me.

Ah yeah, I was in the movie forum didn't realize this was in the Prime section.

Luckily it was the modern designs not the 70's ones.

I hope not, the Cylons for one were far more smarter.

    I've always thought so.

While lots of franchises have the faceless mooks for the good guys to take on by the dozen, there's a lot of blatantly similar design cues and even behaviors.

The Cylons from BSG were also faceless mooks that the Colonials would shoot each week. I fail to see the difference.

I have been watching BSG and just happened to have my silver vehicon out, and frack me if they are no related; their heads/faces, their hands, and how their hands transform into their guns. Neat!

Hey, if they're gonna steal, might as well steal from the best. :)

Tough to say, really. They certainly share a lot of elements with the Cylons, but a lot of those shared elements are fairly generic and/or common tropes so unless the creators confirm it, I wouldn't be comfortable saying for sure.

Well I doubt that the vehicon designer was stuck on what to do but suddenly felt a thunderbolt of sudden unearthly power as their gaze turned to an old episode of BSG. I wouldn't be shocked if they were counted as AN influence among many though.
