More or less this. There was a typhoon that hit the factory around the time Gabe was getting ready to go out. A shipment that went to Chinese sellers had some water damage and initial reports included issues like rusted and broken screws, ratchet issues, and mold. But for all the early negative reviews it turned out to be isolated to that first batch.

@ChromeMagnus Just my two cents, but I thought DX9 had the best Omega Supreme when they were all going for full price. At BBTS's discounted price it's pretty much no contest. That's not to say that Wei Jiang's is bad, but DX9 really nailed it.

People on these boards have a very nasty habit of dismissing anything that doesn't fit their subjective criteria for MP as chug or chugsterpiece. I think Wei Jiang's Ultima Guard is a perfectly reasonable choice for an MP Omega Supreme, and I'm kicking myself for sleeping on getting the blue version for a hefty discount.

That said, if cartoon accuracy is your jam, I don't think anyone can argue against DX9's being the most cartoony.

Yea I stuck with DX9 for bot but really wanted to keep Wei Jiang so grabbed the blue one just to have this figure still. It's an excellent piece to get. The blue with stark clean white paint looks really good

Well, the fact is that it was released a while before Siege Omega Supreme was announced, and its extra detailed and slightly stylized Aesthetics do fit in with chug figures, especially the older bigger ones. But that doesn't change the fact it's equally suitable to a masterpiece , and that impressions of it were overwhelmingly positive... by no means was this dismissed as an option, it was simply not the most cartoon accurate option . They were actually pretty wise positioning themselves in the middle, as nobody at that point expected a Titan class figure of the quality we actually ended up getting.

Anyone with eyes can see this figure looks more at home with official titans. Which are classics. Or chugs. I don't see the problem with that or why ppl are taking offense to it.

Ppl also put those Hasbro titans in mp lineups and that's fine too. Whatever floats your boat. Still doesn't change the overall aesthetic.

So, how has Ultima Guard stood up to the test of time? The recent news of FT Omega's hips exploding has me wanting to replace mine before it happens and I quite like the look of Ultima Guard.

Mine is still fine. Stands tall in bot mode for a long time now. Maybe a year. I've had it since release. Transformed it one, posed it a few times over time. I believe all is well :D

I have the blue repaint and it’s great, everything is still tight.

Only thing is I would put it with generations figures based on looks. If you want a Masterpiece Omega Supreme is go with Dx9 Gabriel.

UG is great and holding just fine (since release)! Where he fits is by taste... If you want Geeeee-oooooone (B Scullface voice) go with DX9 or FT. For non-dumpy proportions and detailed sculpt, WJ has you covered!

Mine is still good. The fingers are a problem, though. The ratchets in mine seized. I removed the ratchets altogether, because they work fine as friction joints. YMMV.

I’m still glad I picked him up.

It's in my masterpiece collection. I like the figure and style with some of my older mps and even with the newer. To me, the detailing helps give it scale. Really dynamic and was my choice over the dx9 version.

As for durability, he's had his blaster arm up and fully out and his clawed arm crooked and level for about 6 months. I've transformed him a handful of times.

Only complaint is one of his calf halves doesn't have pins to go into the female side. It's hole-hole. I don't mind tho. I can make posts... Eventually haha.

A fair few people have had the hips just crumble on FT Omega lately when moving the legs.

Yeah, I moved mine a year or so after I bought it and didn't remember the claw being so hard to manipulate.

A little shock oil will fix that.
