I like the blue deco more, mostly because it comes with one eye face, which differentiated with other Omega Supreme (DX9, FT, Hasbro).

Given the DX9 price drop, which is a better value deal between DX9 and WJ?

I'd get Gabriel first. Cause the price drop x Gabriel's build, style, and size is a great deal. Ultima is CHUG styled and slightly smaller. Both are great but I've considered selling Ultima a number of times, I never considered getting rid of Gabriel.

Ultima's biggest feature, I think, is its playability. Especially the motorized tank that can go around the track.

Exactly what red2 said. Gabriel is the one you want for an MP display. WJ is close enough to work perfectly well in an MP display -- especially one with studio ox style figures or the earlier more realistic style Mps with more detailed surfaces. But Gabriel IS Masterpiece Omega Supreme. There's basically nothing about it that isn't right.

I went with WJ as the guardians because compared to Gabriel they seem less refined and slightly more vulnerable... like Omega Supreme is the final, superior, version of these kinds of robots.

Wouldn’t really call it chug, (after all we saw what an actual chug one looks like) just in the same style of older MP’s that added mechanical detail to them because they are Giant robots.

I went with WJ back when he was 200$ shipped. I prefer his less boxy proportions, and his alt mode to DX9. He seems more toy inspired than toon to me. I also know that some people had QC issues with DX9, but I'm not sure how wide spread that was. I'd say if you want toon accuracy on a shelf go DX9, if you want a more versatile toy get WJ.

The first initial batch had lots of issues. After that it seems most QC were minimal if any.

Agreed. I use this guy for my MP Omega, and he pulls it off just brilliantly. My MP scale collection leans toward toy-inspired, and away from toon inspired, and the lines and greebles and details on this guy make him the perfect Omega for me. It's a total bonus that he's also a great TOY, durable and chunky and easy to transform. I've played with all three of the MP Omegas, and this guy is the most fun to pose, manipulate, or transform. One of the best pieces I ever purchased, and the price tag made him one of the best bargains as well.

Thanks! Trying to keep up the G1 goodness! :D

Cool! Thanks for sharing that good news!
I think I might have turned it off. I'll check.

I had it turned off. It's on again (for you numbers people). ;)

This %100. The worst thing about this figure is people's ability to downplay it because it came from primarily a KO company and people were so stuck up about having fanstoys or dx9 the only way to justify the price difference was to disregard this one as CHUG And wouldn't fit their display.

I was torn between this, DX9, and Siege. Was leaning towards Siege just because of the price, but then BBTS dropped the price on DX9, which was my favorite, just too expensive before. Fanstoys was never on my list due to price and Fanstoys rep for overusing diecast. DX9 won out over Siege due to being more accurate to Omega Supreme toy and toon. Siege was too "reingineered". Wei Jiang was tempting, and I found a few places that had it for $199 at the time, but stuck with DX9 just because it looked more polished to me. Either is good, from all the research I did.

DX9 has no QC issues since the very first batch.

ONE reviewer does not constitute a "QC issue". It's an isolated incident. I haven't heard any repeated QC problem with it since the original release had the rusted screws and water damage boxes. An issue would be the breaking legs of FT Warpath. The crumbling of MP-47.

I don't I don't remember it being received like that. The consensus was that it was the most fun version of the figure but also the least G1 accurate. It has awesome sound effects oh, cool light, and is the only one that is an actual motorized tank. In certain ways it has the best base mode out of all three, the track is absolutely massive and it really encompasses enough space to form a perimeter around Masterpiece scale figures which is not something that can be said for the other versions. It was always a great value. And pretty much everyone always agrees that it works just fine as a masterpiece Omega Supreme. It's just that the other options, and dx9 in particular, absolutely nailed that G1 appearance.

The ratchet in one of my Gabriel's legs has frozen up, but you know what? I'm not going to force it. I'm going to lubricate it and if that doesn't work I will take it apart. You can usually tell with stuff like that when it's going to go. To me a real QC problem is the kind of thing that just explodes in your hand or shears off unexpectedly, or where the design is just untenable like the tabs on eligos' jet mode.

It's true that all of these things were said, many times, and that the reception of the figure was HUGELY positive. It was only a subset of the reviewers and commentators that seemed to think it was somehow "Not Masterpiece" worthy. That was a comment made often enough to really make me look at Ultima and wonder what they were seeing that I was not. I guess the fact that the base mode in particular deviates so much from the toy and the toon cell model might be enough to make someone feel that way. But I would totally and 100% recommend it to someone for a MP Omega. It looks great with my Magic Square Prime, with my Giga Dinos, with my Takara Dautsauns... across the board it fits the part perfectly. You don't have to coddle it, you can transform it in less than 23 minutes, it's fun to pose and articulate, and it has the best linework and detail of all three of the offerings. I think pezley is sorta right, some people want to push it down and give it an automatic third place participation award, just because its a less expensive third party option, made by a company which keeps value on the front burner when it tries to attract fans. But I don't see the comparisons fall out that way at all. I see all three of them as pretty much on equal footing, personal choice making it possible to argue that any one of the three are the "best" for a particular shelf.

(I know, sometimes I get too touchy when people say things about my toys. It's true. It was true when I was twelve, and it's still true today...)

I know it's not an exact science but search chug or chugsterpiece here and the other omega threads and see the results

    Weijiang
450 results out of 139 pages
    Fanstoys
45 results out of 448 pages
    DX9
32 results out of 360 pages

You can clearly see there's a huge bias around chug conversation here.
