This is an oversized, KO of Skullcruncher, made by Wei-Jiang. Originally, although the paint is GREAT, for cost reasons (?), they molded the head in the same plastic as the (legs) and then didn't paint it black (although the standard colours they used do look great, possibly as another character). The following additions/changes were made: - Silver backed Reprolabels on the sides/flanks of the beast mode and covering the faux-faction symbol tampoed on it by Wei-Jiang on the beast mode head (copying the Hasbro look). These stickers were silver backed Decepticon symbols, printed on clear plastic "paper" (given away free by RLs) and NOT the "silver" backed regular labels (which look like foil to me). - Foil/Silver-backed Decepticon symbol on the robot-mode chest (raised up, like the one on the official Krok, because I thought it looked better). - TINY Reprolabels Decepticon faction sticker on Grax's chest (taken from the ones used for the screwholes for regular/official Titanmasters), because I thought it looked good. - Fully-painted Grax, complete with gold face, (glossy) black body, metallic red visor (with a clear red coating) and dark green abdomen screw. - Painted mouth interior, with metallic red hard palate (upper), silver teeth and metallic red tongue (with clear red coating), plus metallic/clear red eyes. I've included some comparison pics with Takara Tomy's version for your viewing pleasure.
Paints used: - "Tamiya Color" X-1 (black), X-5 (green), X-12 (gold leaf), XF-16 (flat aluminum) (sic). - Mr Hobby "Mr Metallic" GX202 Metallic GX Metal Red Primary. - Mr Hobby "Acrysion" N-90 Gloss Clear Red Primary.
Cheers! As I have already got the Takara version, it's a nice way for me to have both the Hasbro and Takara versions! Also, my Hasbro version is currently being used by Legends Megaligator.
Yes. He's pictured in one of the shots above. As Megaligator features painted green on the face, it's not an exact match to the plastic colours in either TT or Hasbro.
Looks really nice. How’s the quality on these guys? Classic Wei Jiang goodness? I could use some maybe.
BTW I found you can dye hard plastic using Rit Dyemore dye. Regular RIT doesn't take but Dyemore soaks in and permanently changes the color. Turned his noggin black this way.
