That's my feeling too. If you're going to steal Hasbro IP, so it in areas that isn't going to be competing with their current product. So, say MMC's version of Bruticus doesn't really compete with the Combiner Wars version as in terms of cost, scale, look, ease of transformation/combination etc it's a completely different beast. Whereas their Sky Lynx is a much closer match to the current WFC version and so is a bit more dodgy (although in this case the 3rd party version was released way before the Hasbro one was even announced so that's not really MMC's fault)

Just... Don't poke the bear guys, and then everyone gets to be happy.

 

To my knowledge BMB is a totally separate company, but with factories somewhat close to WJ. As far as the varying list of sub-brands from each company (Model Wizard, Legendary Toys, Transform Element, etc.) nobody seems to know for sure if they're produced at the same factories, if their production inventories were also seized, or what that means to immediate future releases. So much of this current move seems directly targeted at movieverse KOs that are very minimally modified, if at all, and so far word seems to be this only impacted the very top people at WJ, nobody else, potentially leaving the factories to get right back to work on something. The move certainly has much of the scene on high alert right now, with many working on movieverse designs taking down images, and even non-movieverse images disappearing from social media. Hardly the first time this has happened, but it's definitely a very noteworthy instance.

 

Which is typically what they do. And, in some cases, Hasbro is likely fine with certain 3P companies (think add-on kits that still require the original product). But yeah, if you're going to do 3Ps, stay away from stuff that Hasbro is doing.

Am I the only who fears that the end of Oversized KO Transformers figures is at hand?

 

Same old, same old. Zero new risk here for real 3Ps. This is just HasTak taking out KOs that use actual TF names and copy existing physical product. That's well within their rights.

I'm not an expert on Chinese law, but I think even in China the call if it's indeed counterfeit or not is not up to the police. It will be determined by lawyers and judges in a court of law. So the police calling it counterfeit doesn't mean it actually is by law.

Of course, no matter how expensive the lawyers hired by Weijiang will be, the judge will rule that these are indeed counterfeits. Because upscaling and minor changes are not enough to skirt even the chinese law. Especially in such public case.

KO's are bad because they rip off Has / Tak and illegally make duplicates of their work to sell online for less than Has / Tak product.
So Has / Tak needs to take down the KO companies n order to protect their property.

So go purchase TE-01 for $100 from an online store instead of MP-4 for $400 from an online store

I mean... both TE-01 and KO's are unlicensed and both steel Has / Tak's property.
But TE-01 is not being a KO is OK because they designed the engineering of someone else's property themselves instead of the bastards who duplicated someone else's property.
So unlicensed 3P's property theft is actually OK.

TE-01 is a MP Optimus, just as IP-stealing as any KO.
And it s cheaper than the official offering.
