    I have Battle Hornet.
    I have BBBB
    I have Human Alliance BB
I sold off my MPM 03

Battle Hornet is in no way a KO of MPM 03.
I think it’s an “original” taking ideas from BBBB and Human Alliance. I don’t see any MPM 03 in it at all.

This is how every mass-retail product in the world works. Calling it "planned inferiority" just shows unrealistic expectations for a mass-market product, of any kind. When you make something that's getting tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of units made, EVERY CENT can make or break your budget. Things like eliminating a couple paint apps, decreasing the parts count even by a couple, or sizing down a figure by a half centimeter can shave many thousands of dollars off the cost. It's just how everything works. 3P can only do that cause they make comparatively way less of each thing they make. Plus they can take as long as they damn well please, two major advantages when comparing who can make the "best" product. I'm not saying Hasbro or Takara are always great at what they do, but I guarantee they try damn hard to get us cool figures, all the while working inside a system that makes it as hard as possible to do something of genuine quality.

    I own KO's.
    I own unlicensed 3P.
    I own official.

I get what I think is best for me, regardless of whatever limitations the producer has. I have cases of great figures, not cases of reasons.

It's the end result that matters most.

No. That was a legally licensed product.

In G1? If so, Hasbro LICENSED various toys designs from various other toy companies to use in the transformers line. Every season 1 and most, if not all season 2 transformers, were originally designs from other companies repurposed under license by Hasbro. That's not knocking off.

If you meant something else, then I dunno, lol.

Hasbro bought the rights to the toy, but Harmony gold owned the rights to the character the toy was based on in animation etc. So they had to change it in the show so that it didn't match the character the toy was based on.

All things considered, G1 toonfire doesn't look bad considering it's a hastily made up inhouse design by Marvel/Sunbow.

But talk about the difference about the toon and the toy. Ironhide and Ratchet at least look right in their alt mode.

I feel in the day and age we live in where Hasbro and Takara give us things we wanted for decades (Omega Supreme, Quintessons, Runamuck, Spinister, now BW Toys, a whole movie-accurate Bayformers toyline) it is quite a "bite the hand that feeds you (toys)" attitude to support obvious IP thieves.
And to me that includes all third party, not just the blatant KOs.
Doesn't mean that I don't buy the odd KO every now and then - my latest purchase was the Weijiang oversized RID Megatronus. But it won't make me sell the original toy. Even back in the 90ies6early 2000s the KOs that interested me were the ones that totally reworked and modified the original toy, as strange curiosities, not as replacements for the original. Like the 4Star winged dragon Sluge, rhomboid-barrelled bronze Shockwave, strange Star Saber-headed Overlord, gold chrome and green Triggerbots, etc.
I am just frankly, irked by a lot of people basically barely collecting HasTak stuff anymore, and their reaction to a new toy being released is "I'll wait for the upgraded version from XYZ" or like with Unicron, "I will wait for another company to make a cheaper alternative". When Predaking came out in PotP, I was not whining about the hands or lack of swords, I was looking for a way to buy the toy, not waiting for some company to make changes to it.
I don't really count "third party" (a generous euphemism of a name) stuff among my Transformers collection, frankly. My only purchases of such toys are few, and were before Generations/CHUG got a massive relaunch with CW. I bought the Energon Bruticus limbs (Crossfire), and the Hercules Devastator. And after CW Devastator came out? I was awed by how much better, bigger, and more G1 accurate HasTak's version was. And I pretty much stopped collecting third party there and then. The only things I bought since then were the (rather lackluster) Animated Huffer/Pipes (since Hasbro does not seem to want to revisit that series anytime soon) and the Steeljaws/Wolves for Lockdown (whom I use with my SS Lockdown). These are the rare exceptions where Hasbro has not released any (good) toys of the characters - though I do still own the 1-stepchanger Steeljaw.

As for Weijiang, I doubt the takedown has much to do with Hasbro at all. Chinese government is hunting such pirates mostly because they likely skim taxes and other fees as well. There have been major crackdowns in the last year, I recall one company making Hot Toys KOs was shut down already. Given the draconian laws in China where you can get the firing squad for money laundering or embezzlement, I bet the sentences will be harsh and likely make the other KO makers rethink their situation...

Is this some comedy? The rocket scene was hilarious. Too bad the effects were pretty clearly visible most of the time.
Also the officer in charge of the soldiers is totally chinese JonTron.

I know tempers are running all over the place but I've got a question...
What other toy collecting hobby has a 3P/KO scene?
