Made, past tense. Essex Arms has been gone for years, but quite a few shops still offer prefitted frame-slide sets including Caspian IIRC.

That's cool. I wonder how easy they would be to find.

They're not a "shelf item" at gunshops, you'd have to order from the manufacturer and have it shipped to your FFL. Frames need the same 4473 as a complete firearm.

    Ok. Thanks for the info!

I finally started laying out the stock for my crossbow. I found a perfectly sized piece of pine in the garage. I'm gonna try to get myself some red oak to make the prod.

One other thing to note, 1911's don't just hammer-and-screw together like AR's, even with the frame and slide prefitted there a lot of internals that still need hand-fitting. The barrel and its locking lugs in particular--Jerry Kuhnhausen's two shop manuals are Must Owns for any 1911 owner or builder.

Holy SHIT! I think I just found a unicorn....well, not really. I saw a case of .223 ammo (1000 rounds), and went to purchase it. Order went through, and apparently it was their last one! Considering almost every place is practically out of it...yeah. And it was reasonably priced too. Not gouged or anything :D  So I'm stoked!

That reminds me, I need to set up some price alerts on IMI Razorcore Mk 262 5.56 NATO for when things settle down... I have M855 Green Tip on hand but it's not the best choice for terminal ballistics, particularly out of a Mk 18, while a hot-loaded 77gr Sierra MatchKing at short range will even punch through weaker body armor.

    Thanks for the tips!
    Lucky find!

My crossbow's stock is close to finished. I did get the red oak, which is fairly dry, but I'm hoing to let it dry a bit longer before I start making the prod.

I wish I stocked up on more Mk. 262. I have 100 rounds of it mostly for home defense purposes. Honestly my AR is the last option for HD but every gun needs to be ready to go...just in case...in my house.

Me too. I have plenty of 855 AC1 on hand as well as M193, but I'm pretty short on mk262, less than 100 rnds.

My AR is first. My 11.5" is either at the bedside or my P30 will get me to it. Everything is ready to go though.

My 1911 is first, with the Mk 18 second and the girlfriend's zombie-killing C8 next until the upper and Aimpoint for my M4 arrive.

Soon as this BS is over I need to get out to the range and train more with the long guns, except that Puget Sound ranges are all run by Elmer Fudds who go full Fecal Incontinence at the mere thought of anything newer than a bolt-action...

That's too bad. You could disguise your AR as a bolt action by adding a wood stock. I wish I had my own land where I could set up a range.

Nice bullpup! Though I can't say I'm a fan how the mags are behind the grip. I tried one once, it just felt a little awkward to me.

Thanks. Yeah Bullpups are not for everyone. I prefer the AR15 controls all day but I also like weird space guns!

Same here. I already have 2 ARs. Thinking of either an AR pistol, or a Remington 700 next.

Get an AR10 my bro. Too many noobs at the range shooting .223 already. Get some good ol sexy ass American 7.62. as for the shotgun I highly recommend staying away from Remington. They have terrible quality control. Lots of factory loose parts and horrid parkerized finishes that end up rusting real quick. I do alot of fire arm restoration on the side. Hell charging my co-workers to fix their broken ass guns paid for half my arsenal by now. Remington and Kimber keep me paid! I'd say get a Mossberg or Beretta. If you feeling fancy the FNH SLP is also a sexy ass shotgun.

Surplus current-issue USMC Chest Rig I'm working on kitting out to go with the M4; while I have the component list I don't have all the "what goes where" other than that IFAK goes at the end on the strong side, NODS/canteen carrier same but weak side, and a frag pouch goes just inside from each with one of them holding a headlamp and the other a compass. (And that was also like 25 pounds ago...)

Any TFW's out there who might be an 0311 or other 03-series Uncle Sam's Misguided Children up for helping build a "museum quality" rig? :)

I'm more of an AR guy than a shotgun :lol  I might look at the AR-10, but I found some .308s that someone just gave to me a long time ago. I forgot why too. I don't even have a rifle that fires those rounds (yet) :lol  I've got plenty of .223s and 5.56s (though I could use more...) Besides, it's what I'm more familiar with it since I had one for a short time while I was in the military. I was also debating the CMMG 6.5 creedmores too :D  But nah...maybe some other time. As for the Remington, I was referring to the Remington Model 700...bolt action rifle :D  Miss firing those...I was really good with those with just iron sights. But then again, for longer ranges, I'll need a scope. Eh...so many options out there :D

Bro im such a fooking clown! You said Remington 700 and I thought "shotguns". My bad dude. Yeah those older Rems are good. Now a days most guys shooting Ruger Precision, Savage Hunters and the new Magpul Delta. With 6.5 Creedmore it's so easy to hit square plates out past 500 yards, takes the skill outta the game. 6.5 is amazing but older guys hate it cause it's "new fangled frat boi trash". I embrace technological advances and tactical advantages. It's cool to know there's dudes like you out here my bro. I've felt really disappointed in the fandom lately with all the soft SJWs around so it's a nice change to know there's some more service dudes in the game.
