...But now there's proof. Math can indeed hurt you...but only if you anticipate it. When people worry about math, the brain feels the pain | UChicago News

NO WONDER! Been wondering why I get a headache when I have to crunch numbers to keep up with the collection budget.....

Guess this means doing inventory counts are more dangerous than working with impact tools. Good to know.

Math sucked and now I have scientific proof but I truly did hate math class and chemistry this really explains alot.

Call me a nerd (or a dork or a geek or whatever that was about), but I've never understood being anxious about math. It's just playing around with numbers.

Fair enough. But the example of having to verify or disprove (12x4) - 19 = 29 is kind of... elementary, I'd say.

After taking 7 semesters of "math" in college (6 semesters of calculus, 1 semester of linear algebra), I think I can safely say that math does not bother me. My good ole TI-89 is still my most useful tool today, as well!

Regular, everyday "2+2=4"-type math isn't horrible. It's when you get into stuff like trig and calculus that things take a turn for the worse.

I guess I should have said "Other people's money." Good point and if I'm dumb enough to screw that up for my own money that's one thing, but if I screw that up for someone else's, that's more pressure than I wanna deal with.

Four words- Second order differential equations. Be thankful most of you will never have to experience the horror.
