    *she

They weren't created for the cardgame though they were originally goons in background animations in the cartoon (Sunstorm in Episode 1, Novastorm in the Rainseeker episode) who were colored slightly differently. There is actually a bit of trivia on TFwiki in the Sunstorm article and Nova Storm article about it.

For me the same was with Thundercracker and Ion Storm.

I think the only difference originally was that Sunstorm had white thighs in an animation model. Originally they were not even named characters, just seeker mooks.

Is that a typo? I thought nova storm was male in G1?

They're kind of amalgamating characters. She's female in Cyberverse and an actual character vs a background mook in G1. (Did the non Acid Storm Rain Seekers speak, I forget?)

Is it just me (which it probably is), or is the quality of artwork really taking a nose dive since Wave 3?

One, I think, perfect example of this is to look at wave 2 Starscream Decepticon King, then look at Starscream from Siege. Heck, even compare it the Wave 1 Starscream Air Commander...
Please don't think I'm getting defensive just voicing my opinion.
I think if wave 4 looks this rough, that will be the last of my collection.

You're honestly not too wrong? I mean I'm an artist (note - a bad one) and I can just tell that the older cards look a lot nicer than the current ones.
    To go with your comparison...

Sun Nova Storm's straight arms and strangely bent legs don't give off the strong imposing look of a combustion specialist frontman soldier lookin' lad. I'm not even sure how the waist and legs are supposed to be looking since the null-ray effects are hiding most of the lower torso. The line of action is also just straight and not a curved dynamic one.
    Now with Screamer...

He's got a good looking pose with a defined line of action, a good use of perspective and foreshortening on the right leg and forearm, and it looks a lot more dynamic than Sun-Nova-Yellow-Storm over there.

    This is bad comedy.

We have to remember the earlier waves were recycled art. We're still kind of in early days while the art department figures out styles for the game art. I don't mind what we are getting, still better then some of the early MTG art, and I expect it to improve if the game brings in money. Let's be honest, I didn't expect it to last this long or already be on a 4th wave

I love the new art, the best part? I can see it. The early art was too dark and lacked contrast
