Whoever plays Dr Manhattan can't act. Stupid slow motion is stupid. But from the director of the shit that was 300 I can't expect any less. Other than that, it looks great.
Same here. "Take A Bow" fits the tone nicely. Wow that was a spectacular trailer. I'm really liking how well Rorschach's mask transitioned from comic to film. Still kinda iffy about Manhanttan
I missed the clearly marked tiny little button at the bottom. Thanks for the tip, dawg. The embedded quality is still appalling. It's a decent read. Certainly worth doing before the film and probably in one sitting. Be warned though, it's fairly thick and text heavy. Although it would be interesting to have seen the film before reading the comics.
This you need to qualify, because as of right now, it makes you look kinda ignorant to the subject matter.
I dont know if they use anything other than a squid alien would work the same as in the comic. the whole idea of using a grotesque looking creature was to suggest the horrificness of the psychic backlash without resorting to cheap gimmicks; think of space oddessy's pseudo lsd trip. but then again I can see how some would see space squid sitting in times square kind of hokey in light of recent monster fare like cloverfield. it'd just look so undynamic/static on the big screen.
i saw this, and i was tingly all over. but after i turned my massager off, i still felt good about this movie. i am waiting for EW, or AICN or someone to say, "there are only 2 comic book movies: The Dark Knight and Watchmen." no offense to IM and Hulk fans, this is just speaking about 2 different species of the same animal. IM was good clean fun, this should be visceral and moving.
Should I qualify my statement with a "COMPARED TO YOUR STANDARD COMIC BOOK THERE ARE MORE WALLS OF TEXT THAN USUAL? SPECIFICALLY ALL THE EXTRA STUFF PACKED IN BETWEEN THE CHAPTERS?"
I think it'll be used as a joke in every satire of Watchmen, with Dr Manhattan being an emo blady blah blah.
Man, i have the ultimate cure for any misgivings you might have about the ending or any other changes or anything. At least it's not this: Sam Hamm's unused original adaptation of Watchmen (1989)
Hmmm... after finally watching this new trailer, I'm becoming fairly concerned that this is going to be bad. More than a few things in there are of concern.
Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan is feeling more laughable the more I see it. The photo op of the "Crimebusters!" gives me trouble. I may not be remembering correctly, as it's been nearly ten years since I last read "Watchmen" but the Crimebusters met once, for about 10 minutes, and disbanded in the same meeting. No photo was taken, there was no team. I don't see why you would bother to add to the existing story, as it's far from likely that you can improve upon Moore. There was one particular moment where Dreiberg says something along the lines of "The Watchmen are finished" which worries me that they are actually going to call this team that never existed "The Watcmen" in the movie. Makes my skin crawl, as it's again completely unnecessary. Coupled with the possibility that Veidt's plan has been watered down to a nuke in Manhattan, I'm now srtating to worry more than a little.
