Do You Feel He Was Rightfully Represented in Animated? discuss your views and opinions on this creepy crawlie
Probably one of the best written characters in TF history. Yeah...due to the series being cut short, ultimately the big payoff for him fell somewhat flat, but the story behind him, wow. You have a promising young autobot, maybe not the nicest guy in the world, but still, a good guy. He's framed by a Decepticon agent, imprisoned by his own people, presumably tortured (I mean, you have what you believe to be an agent of your enemy in your custody, odds are..you'd want to know what they know), and driven absolutely insane. After escaping, he seeks revenge on the one he believes to have wronged him, he then meets someone else betrayed by her own people, a lost soul such as himself. She claims to be his friend. After being experimented on, and horribly mutated, he finds out the only person left in the world he thought was his friend was merely using him for her own gain. He soon thereafter explodes. Sure Beast era Waspinator may have had more than his share of bad luck...but nothing that compares to just how tragic of a case Animated Wasp/Waspinator was.
I liked the character very much! My only gripe was the was not enough screen time of him as Waspinator (who he was created to represent), but a very well written and developed character. He was very cool. I hoped to see a bit more of him, but due to the series cancellation, no such luck.
Interesting to note both Wasp/inator and Elita/Blackarachnia were both good guys (OK, Wasp was a bit of a dick) semi-inadvertently screwed over by circumstance and their associates, and both could probably have avoided a lot of further suffering if they were able to put aside their emotional baggage and accept help offered to them. (hard to say how possible that was on Waspy's part, since he apparently lost some of his sanity during incarceration)
Wasp/Waspinator was a pretty good character. Such a shame we never saw more of him after "Predacons Rising."
I didn't like how he suddenly became very menacing as Waspinator..would have preferred to see him more like his Beast Wars counterpart (essentially how he was like when he was still Wasp). I also feel the Wasp from the past was very different from the broken present Wasp. I know his mind had broken down by years of imprisonment and possible torture, but it just didn't feel like the same character gone crazy to me. Wasp used to be a jerk, but then he became the kiddy crazy fun character...overall though I really like him.
