This isn't a hoax or a joke. I've received an email from a family member that a new virus is attack c drives on computers by using contacts emails, so if anyone gets an email saying POSTCARD or HALLMARK or anything like that delete it now and shut off your computer because it'll fry it. So please tell everyone from your friends to family. Thank you.

Why the need to shutdown your PC? Does the virus get bored and leave after a while?

That's for the heads up. I don't want my Mainframe to get infected with cosmic rust.

There's another one out there too - the "Dwarf Virus" - this one's medical though, not on a PC. Symptoms are that you start feeling sneezy, grumpy, and dopey. OH! :D

    This.

Though probably not at first. They have to update the system to recognize it first.

Plus, it never hurts to check up on the hit that Norton or whatever finds strange, but that doesn't take action on, and the same goes for stuff that's been recently changed in our startup settings without being something we did.

The latter mostly applies to those rogue viruses (the ones that pretend to be windows defender or whatever), so we shouldn't get fooled by that either.

Thanks for the heads up E!!

Just make sure your "definitions" are up to date.....maybe check on a regular basis if you don't have it set up to do it automatically....

    -Use Firefox
    -Install NoScript plugin
    -???
    -Profit!

Seriously though, NoScript will be more effective at defending you against all sorts of viruses, trojans and whatnot than any common antivirus software.

I seriously just got atleast five virus emails in my hotmail account from people in my contacts. Just deleted them and signed out. Personally I don't care if my computer fries because this thing is a piece of crap anyway :lol

This "virus" has been around for years. It's nothing but a hoax, there's no such virus that can do such a thing to your PC. Please stop panicking, what isn't real can't hurt you.

Viruses can't do about 99% of the things people are told that they can. Spreading this stuff causes panic which far more effective than a virus.
