Post 1 of 2: Main Review post

Nice, we finally get a Seeker in army camo...uh, what, this is "Sparkless"?
    ss01.jpg

As with some other reviews, this will mainly focus on differences compared to the prior figures and show various pictures. Split into 2 posts due to issues with Sparkless Singe.

This Netflix Voyager 3-pack contains Voyager class Sparkless Seeker, Battle Master class Sparkless Singe, and Battle Master class Sparkless Caliburst. All 3 are redecos of prior molds with no new parts. The base plastic colors and paint apps are changed. Contrary to an earlier posting about this figure, the face sculpt is NOT new for Sparkless Seeker. It's the same smirk face found on other seekers except for differences in paint and plastic colors.

Not going to go over articulation in great detail, but it's the same excellent articulation as the other Siege Seekers. The chest is the updated type that stays on better. The ankles on ours also work properly and do not spring back to neutral position (posted fix for this earlier for other Seekers).

The deco is a mixed bag depending on what you want. The figure is beautifully painted with a similar style to Hotlink. However, he does not look like "Sparkless" or undead. He does not match the Netflix show. He really does look like a Seeker with army camo. His base plastic colors are now army green, black, and translucent brown for the chest, canopy, and lightpiping. The render shows transparent brown, but the final is translucent. The main issue with this is that it essentially removes lightpiping from the face. The eyes are also painted over with red.

Here are screen captures for comparison:

    Dark lighting scene:
    ss13.jpg

    Brighter lighting scene:
    ss14.jpg

    Accessories:
Sparkless Seeker includes his 2 Null Rays, Singe has his 2 Siege blast effects (don't have original version to see if same type of green), and Caliburst has his 1 Siege blast effect (also don't have original to compare). As common with blast effects, they did have mild severity warping which I fixed with a heat gun.

    Sparkless Singe:
Maybe it's mold degradation but had issues with Singe. His blaster nozzles / backpack doesn't fit properly. When cutting Singe loose from packaging, his backpack was already off. There are warping issues in the backpack, so it wouldn't stay on well in either mode. See the 2nd post regarding fixes.

The new Singe has only 1 base plastic color this time with every other detail painted on. He's in the same army camo deco as Sparkless Seeker.

    Sparkless Caliburst:
Had no issues with Caliburst at least. Transforms well, and the backpack stays on snug. His deco however doesn't match the rest of the set, so he will stick out. He's molded in 2 base plastic colors. I do like his new deco, and most of his torso is painted over black (except the handle). As with Siege Fracas, his colors are "reversed" when compared to the render.

    Conclusion:
The Siege Seeker mold gets another use. We do like the new deco, and he is wonderfully painted. The figure may create a problem for those who want an "undead" bot. He does not look at all like a zombie bot. If anything, he really does look like he has army camo instead (and well done for that ironically).

Sparkless Caliburst works well. Sparkless Singe, however, has a backpack that doesn't stay on. There is likely mold degradation with that piece but is 100% fixable as shown in the next post (with the proper tools).

If you like the Siege Seekers, then this is a recommended set.

Post 2 of 2: Fixing Sparkless Singe

His blaster nozzles / backpack will not stay on. There are significant warps in 2 areas (technically 3) that need to get fixed.

Tools needed: heat gun, spacer (used 6.5mm diameter rod in this example), 2mm drill bit

    1) The hinge parts of the backpack are warped inwward, so the hinge holes can't even reach the nubs on Singe's back properly. It was difficult trying to get a camera view of the problem.
    singe1.jpg

To fix this, use a heat gun set to 225-250F for 30-60 seconds. Focus on the narrowed hinge area. Then wedge in a rod (used the back end of a 6.5mm drill bit here) while still hot. Then let cool down completely.

    singe2.jpg

Try not to bend other parts of the plastic obviously while it's hot. Also, if you think you "melted" the plastic at those temperatures, you did not. You are seeing the mold release compound that wasn't wiped off completely and will look shiny under heat.

    2) The other issue is that the hinge nubs are not engaging the hinge holes. The nubs measure a proper 2mm but the holes are too small. I could not fit the back end of a 2mm drill bit into the hinge holes.

By hand, use a 2mm drill bit (must be metric, nearest standard size will not work), insert and twist into hole, and then keep twisting until no more resistance is noted. Do this to both hinge holes.
    singe3.jpg

Now the nubs are able to properly engage the hinge holes. The backpack is now stable in both modes and requires decent force to remove.

The hinge warps are now fixed: correct distance apart and the nubs actually engage.
    singe4.jpg

Even with backpack all the way down, this is now stable.

Nice. I feel you could potentially get a new Seeker trio if they release a similar sprayed-color scheme like Hotlink and this guy. Those two look good together!

This does not look "sparkless" to me..he just looks Green.

A couple remolded parts of holes or REAL damage, and a better "dead" paint scheme and Id be interested.

Now? Its really just a green WFC seeker if you ask me.

    FANTASTIC review bud.

Looks quite good! A friend of mine has suggested the name "Dead Air" for him, and I'm definitely stealing that.

really wishing they'd just pretended this guy was for Kingdom (since he doesn't remotely match what he's supposed to represent anyways) and used the ER mold and called him Jungle Seeker or something, the Army Green camo would look tons better on the F-15 mold.

I'm thinking 'Duststorm' or 'Ruststorm' myself, and having him as Rainmaker #4.

Haven't even taken the body out of the packaging yet but I had to wipe the smile off his face.

    20210522_153839.jpg

May have added some spatter to the body. This is going to consume me.

    Just got mine today.
The colors are quite earthy and look good in hand.
    I shall dub it "Shitstorm".

Saw that Fed Ex just delivered mine a few minutes ago so I'll have something to look forward to when I get off work. While he doesn't scream "sparkless undead" I really do like the toned down earthy style green over the bright green of Siege Acid Rain. Instead of calling him Sparkless though, I'm going to rename mine: "Toxidize".
