My experience has been if you plan on handling a figure/model after giving it a panel line wash you usually want to hit it with a clear coat (generally a matte finish is my preference). Does the Tamiya stuff dry well enough to hold up to toy handling or does it nead to be sealed with a top coat?

just ordered me a few figures i was not able to find by me and with everything going on i probably would not find them around here Ratbat, Frenzy, Power Punch, Direct Hit, Caliburst, Powertrain, Highjump and Astrotrain

 

I've never done a top coat for just a panel lining, that always seemed more of a way to protect surface painting to me. This is enamel & thinner, but it's so thin that it freely flows through multiple sculpted lines just by touching the brush to where those lines meet.

Though to be honest, I've sometimes had to reapply after I've used a cotton swab dabbed in lighter fluid (go ahead, laugh) to wipe away the surface excess. But that's usually a case of me using too much pressure when wiping the surface. I also prefer the lining to be more subtle. Here's an example of using grey on Earthrise (oh no, wrong thread haha) Starscream's lighter areas, with black used on the red & blue parts. I still think the black is a little too dark, but the grey just wouldn't have shown.



The only issue I've had with the stuff is that it takes much longer to dry on PVC, as well as spreading out too much since PVC's more porous. But Transformers generally have sharp enough sculpting to make using Tamiya Accent easy.

I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous of those getting Siege NP. Still wouldn't pay the prices I've seen for it even if I had the money to spare right now, but I do like what I've seen of him. Those colors look good on that mold, though I'm not crazy about the sword.

Also, I love the little plush cat toy in those photos.

 

Dare to be Stupid

 

I was very hesitant to grab Mirage after the first product images came out. I thought the wheels hanging off the back of the legs wasn't a good look. But I ordered Springer and I sort of threw Mirage in to make it a better deal. Really glad I did. Out of the box I loved bot mode and wasn't bothered by the legs any longer. Like the poses you can get by untabbing the shoulders. My copy likes to untab ever so slightly in vehicle mode. Maybe because I'm reluctant to force that transclearant plastic but I'm not going to push my luck. He mostly hangs out in bot mode but I've been transforming him a lot more though since I got the Reprolabel set. I'm still really crap at applying them but eh works for me.

 

Glad you like him. He's definitely one of my fav figures from Siege. On a related note, this forum is really not helping me resist buying ToyHax stickers for all my figures. Every time I think I have all the sets I need I see photos like this and add more to my cart.

 

I've got the same problem. Got Siege Sideswipe, Siege Red Alert, and Earthrise Grapple in my cart ready to go. The only thing stopping me from ordering is the hope that a set for Earthrise Wheeljack will drop soon with some blue cel shaded windows to make him pop. We'll see how much longer I can hold out...

 

They’ve been doing the weekly drop and with the whole points thing, I’ve decided to do a “3 in cart” minimum.

 

I was perfectly fine using Trenchfoot as Pinpointer, but this is much better.

“I saw Prime do this once! Didn’t see him again until two whole seasons later.”

Getting a tidy stash of effects pieces, they’ll need their own little tub soon.

update:

Removed the ramp supports to give it a more G1 styled ramp.....they don't "connect" where the ramp hits the floor part, they are merely pushed up against each other, but it still works I suppose.

 

I’m not interested in stickers, but would like to know which if any 3p extra parts (guns, fillers, etc) you all consider essential?

 

Pinpointer (peacemaker goes to pointblank) and how did you get him already?

 

Definitely wouldn’t have bought the regular one if I’d seen this one coming. Going to see about getting the splotches off his crotch(eew), but other than that he’s pretty excellent! My favourite Voyager Megatron by far.

You can tell he’s evil by the colour of his swooshes.  

Oops, guess I got carried away in my excitement! I only had G1 Pointblank as a kid so I probably jumped there in my head.

The Netflix sets were spotted here in Calgary Walmart’s yesterday. I grabbed mine today while looking for some basics. Which I was more surprised to find than the toys!

 

Netflix Megatron and Hotlink starting to pop up at Walmarts, though I'd only heard about Canadian sightings.

 

I'm glad somebody discovered this.
